INTRODUCTION
Academic skills refers to talent and habits that highly beneficial for academic
pursuits like research, report writing, learning and presentation. It mainly involves
planning, studying, technical skills etc. as these are core of academic skills.
Therefore academic skills are useful for improvement of a person (Lejeune, Beausaert
and Raemdonck, 2021). This report involves concept of personal and professional
development, short-term, medium-term and long term goals with examples. Further it
discus the value of personal development plan using goals and at last it reflects
reliability, relevance, purpose, author that represent the affect of using different
source.
Task One:
Personal and professional development
Personal development defines as an accumulation of activities that helps in
developing potential and capability of employees which is useful to generate human
capital. It creates an opportunity and improve quality of individual person to attain life
of aspirations and dreams. Professional development involves mentoring that
develops employees at workplace by training sessions. This development is based
on academics because it helps in sustaining professional terms to develops skills
and knowledge. Reflection is more essential for personal and professional
development where an individual give attention to meaningful subjects where
individual needs improvements. It is effective for a person because it build long
lasting habit to learn and acquire knowledge and skills.
Discuss short term goals by using 3 personal examples
Short term goals are very prominent to develop success in personal and
professional development. Therefore short term goals refers to a planning that an
individual person do for attaining goals in near future. These goals are achieved
within a period of 3-6 months. It is crucial to attain short term goals because these
goals helps in attaining medium and long term goals (Pitan and Muller, 2020).
These goals are easily understand by using examples on personal basis that are
presented below:

Find work in London because this city offer better opportunity to developed
working career.
Statement of value of medium term goals identifying at least 3 personal
examples
These type of goals are to be achieved within a period of 6 months to 12
months. Each and every person have their medium term goals and majority of
people doesn't monitor and evaluate them (Koemel, Shafieizadeh and Farr,
2021). It is effectively understood by using examples that are shown below:
To become a department head
get management knowledge and skills
attend online classes that helps in professional development
Explanation of the value of long term goals identifying at least 3 personal
examples
Long term goals are those that represent plan which a person can see in near
future and in what manner an individual person look at their life as per future
perspective. These type of goals are not easily attained in a week, month or a day.
Therefore these type of goals need time (Bryan and Clegg, 2019). To attain long
term goals it is very essential to reach short and medium term goals so that high
goals are accomplished easily and effectively. Below are several examples of long
term objectives:
open a own new business such as freelancer
graduate from reputed institute of management
To buy own car by generating profits

Personal development plan reflects the written document that mainly shows
system planning and goals of individual person that needs to be accomplished in a
particular time period (Spector-Cohen and et. al., 2019). Personal and
professional development is significant in nature as it offer detailed elaboration of
how individual focus on attaining goals in time. The core trump-card of planning

evaluated that it is necessary to execute personal development plan so that each
and every type of goals is to be attained on time.

Explanation of how ‘Author, Purpose, Reliability and Relevance’ affect
the use of a source
As per Cottrell, 2019 analyzing the believability of sources is essential
because this mainly pledge the reliability and relevance quality of particular
academic work. To effectively assessing reliability and credibility CRAAP test is very
effective when sources are credible.

Relevance (R)- The data that were used within this academic report is
suitable and relevant for examination
Authority (A)- It mainly signifies a person who has an understanding
regarding particular subject. They also have high level knowledge. It affects
validity of using data and resources to complete the project.
