INTRODUCTION
Development of personal skills is necessary for every individual to achieve growth in
their career. An individual should work continuously on their personal development skills so that
they can achieve the goal they have decided to attain in their career for a long term (Amatan,
Han, and Pang, 2021). This gave the rise to the concept of personal development as well as
professional development. Professional development is the process to the development of skills
which are required for professional work and are generally provided by organizations in which
the individual is working for their employees to develop several skills required for their work. In
order to prepare a development, plan no matter either personal or professional every individual
should have their proper goals so that they can have a direction and guidance for their life. These
goals and objective are considered in three parts that are short term goals, long term goals and
medium term goals. If an individual has a desired goal for their life it will help them to work on
several skills which are required to achieve that goal. In other words, a goal helps an individual
to provide direction for their life. This report contains the meaning and concept of personal as
well as professional development in life of an individual with the value of short term medium
term and long term goals. In order to understand these goals in better manner this report also
contain three personal examples of short term goals medium term goals and long term goals.
This report also contains a personal development plan which helps an individual to attain their
skills which are required for their personal development.

Personal development and professional development are two types of concept which should be
understand by an individual for their growth and desired goals. Every individual has some goals
in their life which they want to achieve at a point of time. These goals set by an individual helps
them to give direction for their development in terms of personal as well as professional
development. If both personal development and professional development are compared, then it
is observed that the personal development is a continuous process and taken care by a person
whereas professional development is a process which has been carried out by an organization for
their employees to attain their professional goals. These professional development plans are
generally provided by organizations for their employees in order to create and develop some

professional skills and their employees so that they can work effectively in the organization. In
case of personal development and individual is concerned about their career growth and set their
goals in accordance for their personal development of several skills and knowledge (Granjo, F.
and Rasteiro, 2020). For example, if an individual has a goal to become an entrepreneur then
they should work on their personal development having their long term goal to become an
entrepreneur and development of several skills in them such as communication skills time
management skills leadership skills and many more which will help them to became an effective
entrepreneur. A plan which helps them to achieve these skills will be the personal development
plan for the individual. Further, if an individual is working in an organization and the
organization provides them training for their several skills such as leadership skills, creativity
skills written communication skills presentation skills and many more. Learning of skills and
knowledge with the help of training by an organization will help an individual to develop
themselves professionally and will consider in the professional development plan. It doesn't
matter which skills and individual wants to develop but every individual wants a development
plan in order to develop themselves for their goals and objectives. Before setting a development
plan every individual will require to understand the value and importance and concept of
medium term short term and long term goals of their life. The meaning as well as value with
three examples of short term medium term and long term goals are provided below which will
help an individual to understand these concepts in effective manner.
Importance of short goals with the help of 3 examples
Short term goals refer to those goals which are formulated by an individual for a shorter period
of time so that they can keep themselves motivated towards their goals. Short term goals are
generally formulated for a shorter period of time say 3 to 5 months (Hasmuddin, N.K. and Maat,
S.M., 2020). In order to formulate short term goals and individual is required to analyze their
long-term goals and on the basis of the skills required to achieve their long-term goals they are
need to set short term goals for them. An individual to be motivated and ready for several
challenges for their life as well as workplace. They are essential for an individual for both
personal development as well as professional development plan. It is essential that the long-term
goals as well as short-term goals of an individual are in proper co-ordination and a formulated in
one direction only as it can affect the whole life of an individual and also well result in non-
achievement of their long term goals. In order to have a clear vision about the short term goals of

an individual three examples are provided below which not only helps to understand the meaning
of short term goals but also helps to identify the direction of an individual towards their long-
term goals.

Importance of Medium goals with the help of 3 examples
Medium term goals are those goals which are framed by a person for a longer period than the
short term goals and for a shorter period from their long term goals (Ibrahim, 2021). These goals
are generally formed for more than 5 months and less than 1 year to be accomplished or achieved
the skills and knowledge considered in the medium term goals. In order to achieve long-term
goals essential for individual their goals in smaller parts so that they can be easily achieved by
them full story of long-term goal requires a proper process in which an individual is required to
analyze their skills that are already present in them and on the basis of that they are required to
analyze the skills which will they need to develop further. According to a survey are generally
does not get that much attention from the individual but every individual have their medium term
goals. These medium term goals are the smaller parts of long term goals or a medium part which
helps an individual to find out those skills which require up time period of more than five months
but less than one year to achieve. In order to understand the medium term goals of an individual
the three examples are provided below which are required to be accomplished by an individual
as their medium term goals.

Importance of long goals with the help of 3 examples
Long term goals are the goals which are developed by an individual for a longer period of time
generally for one year or more. These goals are set by an individual to provide the direction to
their life after analyzing their skills so that they can achieve their long-term goals and effective

manner. These goals are the goals which depicts about an individual what they want to be
became in their career (Robbin, 2020). Long term goals can be in both personal as well as
professional career for an individual help them to achieve essential skills for their life and
analyses the requirement of skills and targets for their short term as well as medium term goals.
In order to understand the concept of long term goals there are three different examples provided
for the long-term goals of an individual which helps to provide the individual direction about
their life and career growth.
 Complete the graduation in Business management from a reputed university
 Became an effective entrepreneur
 Have a good command over English with fluency.
Personal Development Plan
Understanding the value of different types of goals and individual is required to develop a

formulated by an individual to develop skills required in them to achieve their desired goals in a
predetermined time period. The personal development plan is given below to attain required
skills to achieve long-term goals of my life. My personal development plan contains three skills
that has productivity skill time management is well and management skill which are the most
essential skills to become an effective entrepreneur (Shi, and Li, 2020). This personal
development plan also helps me to identify which skills of mine is short term which is medium
term and which is long term.

CONCLUSION
All the discussion given above helps to conclude that long term medium term and short
term goals has very essential role to be played in life of an individual. Long term goals are set by
an individual to achieve within a long period of time which is generally one year to three years.
This long term goal helps an individual to provide a basis to set their medium term goals so that
they can find a direction towards their goals and objectives. All the medium term goals and not
come so much considered by individuals but every individual have them was top short term
goals are formulated by dividing medium term goals in short period of time and provide
motivation to individual to develop more goals for their life which further helps them to
developed their personal as well as professional development plan.
