1. Definition of the concept of personal and professional development Personal and professional development can be defined as the process which is focused with the development of skills and abilities of individuals so that the future goals could eb accomplished. It is mainly focused with attainment of all the short, medium and long-term goals that can help an individual to reach the target in career and get desired job (Kennedy, 2016). Personal and professional development plan could be defined as the plan which can help individuals to analyse the weaknesses and make efforts to overcome them. With the help of it, all the students can improve the skills and make strategies for attainment of all the long-term goals and objectives. If the individuals will not be able to develop it properly then it will be very difficult to make improvement in the qualities. Main aim of it is to understand the importance of it for the university students so that they can meet their career goals and objectives. 2. Description and discussion of the value of short-term goals and identification of examples All the future goals which could be accomplished in less than six months are known as short term goals. These are very important and valuable for the students as it can help them to develop their skills and abilities. Some of the specific short-term goals are as follows: ï‚·Completing projects in the specific time limit. ï‚·Attending all the classes and scoring higher marks in tests. ï‚·Making connections with class mates and mentors. 3. Description and discussion of the value of medium-term goals and identification of examples The goals which could be accomplished during the duration of 6 to 12 months are known as medium-term goals. These are valuable for a person because, with the help of them, a student can develop employability skills so that career objectives could be fulfilled(Desimone and Pak, 2017). Some of them are as follows: ï‚·Developing a plan for future. ï‚·Scoring higher marks in the examination. ï‚·Leaning a new language. 4. Description and discussion of the value of long-term goals and identification of examples The goals and objectives which could be accomplished in the duration of one year are known as long term goals. These are valuable for the students because with the help of such 1
goals all the students will be able to achieve all their career aspects(Körkkö, Kyrö-Ämmälä and Turunen, 2016). Some of them are as follows: Completing the university course successfully. Finding a suitable job according to career aspects. Making improvements in personal skills and abilities. 5. Description and discussion of the value of a personal development plan and construction of an example using the identified goals Personal development plan is a type of document which is mainly focused with attainment of all the future goals and making improvements in weak skills. If a personal will not be able to use its properly then it will be very difficult to meet the career goals and objectives. If the students will not eb able to generate a PDP properly then it will be very difficult for them to meet the future goals.
