Use case diagram
1.1 Functional Requirements
QAHE University has developed a new library for the purpose of providing
better services towards the staffs and students. In order to ensure better
performance of the library digital management system is being implemented
that will ensure better performance of the library. The functional
requirements that are associated with the library management system are
described below:
 The system will allow the staffs and students to get the access over the
system
 Records related to library stock will be recorded by the admin
 Admin can record the items that are being damaged and will replace
the product
 Subtype of the book will be classified by the admin
 Admin- add, modify, search and delete the data regarding the
members that are associated with the library
 Users- search for the available books
 User- can login to the system before accessing the details regarding
the items
 Students- students are allowed to borrow books around 5 and can keep
a reserve of up to 3 items
 Staff: staffs are allowed to reserve 5 items and can borrow around 10
items
 System: system will store all details regarding the issue date and
return date and will ensure that the number of items borrowed at a
time are restricted to the limits
 System: system will calculate the fine if any user returns the borrowed
book after the mentioned time.
 System: system will restrict the users from borrowing the books if the
number of late return increases
 System: system will generate emails as a reminder towards the
borrowers
 System: system needs to store all the necessary details regarding the
users and will also store the details regarding the number of items that
are being borrowed by a user.
 System: system needs to store data regarding the items that are
available in the stock

Description: The user needs to login into the
library management system for the
purpose of accessing the items and
services that are available within the

Precondition: The user must have an account
within the system for the purpose of

Flow: 1. User needs to login within the
system
2. The details will be checked by
the digital system
3. Login credentials will be
validated so that authenticate
user can get the access
4. After evaluation of the details
users are either provided with
the permission or the
permission is denied

Use case Title: Borrow Books

Description: The actor can borrow a book for a
certain period of time
Precondition: The actor needs to select borrow
books options for selecting the
appropriate items
Flow: The digital library system will allow
the user to choose appropriate
option for borrowing the books

Use case Title: Stock records
Actors: Admin
Description: The admin can get details regarding
stocks of the items. This will include
details regarding books and the
items that are needed to be placed
within the library
Precondition: The admin needs to check the stock
and will update the system
accordingly
