Make Security a Top Priority
It is important for employees to check IDs of all incoming visitors, when replacing room
keys or when handing over keys at the valet to avoid any kind of mischief that might be going on
in the premises. Complying with this measures in the name of security will definitely have a
positive impact on the organization, and cover up the organization in case of any legal
investigations. Having employee meetings where by they are shown safety videos and provide
them with the skills and techniques of spotting suspicious behaviors and any other safety issues.
The employees should be trained to verify the identity of any contractor visiting the premises
either on errands or doing any maintenance. Checking the contractors background will help
unfold any suspicion. The hotel staff should not only be courteous and friendly to the visitors but
also show interest to engage with them and get to know them at personal level in order to
encourage hotel security maintenance. The staff have an opportunity to meet people from all
walks of life and may potentially spot any nefarious characters if you get involved. Talking to
the employees and managers on security issues will go a long way to create a secure
environment.
Monitor Your CCTVs
Setting up CCTV cameras without being monitored is not enough, to make this
investment effective, a team should be set to continuously monitor the cameras. The activity
activated cameras are mainly used to issue alerts of persons who trespass a certain place or where

unauthorized person are not required or alternatively hire a third party to monitor the cameras.
Some camera systems have the voice command, this means that the system cannot only be used
to monitor but can also be used to verbally warn people off.
Deploy high tech biometric system
Hotel companies should invest in high tech biometric systems check in that scan every
single luggage of visitors at the reception before getting into the hotel rooms and ensuring that
the CCTVs available are being monitored in the security room for any unusual activities taking
place within the premises. The biometric systems should be able to scan the luggage and display
its skeleton form on a screen where it’s being monitored of any prohibited equipment. In
reference to Las Vegas shooting, Mandalay Bay hotel, it is outrageous and unbelievable that
Stephen Paddock could carrying more than 10 bags packed with fire arms to his room without
being noticed. It only shows the lapse of security check up that happens in the hotel due to poor
management systems that no one bothers to question since everyone sees it as a normal routine
where people come in and leave at will and nothing wrong happens. But after this incident, it
was a wakeup call for the security management to beef up checkup measures.
