Executive Summary
The purpose of this report is to discuss the use of accounting software in the business and
how it can be used by David Jones in order to overcome the challenges it is presently dealing
with. The report has provided the detailed description of the operations and processes of
David Jones from which it has been identified that it is dealing with challenges related to
inventory management and effect of the relocation of the head office of the company. In
order to overcome these challenges, the report has provided a description of two accounting
software, that could be used by the company are XERO accounting software and SAP
accounting software. Considering the features of XERO that is business operation
management, invoice creation, etc. will support the company in handling its financial and
non-financial operations effectively.

Introduction
The intent of this report is to present a comprehensive discussion of the key procedures and
activities of David Jones in order to identify the required features of the accounting software
by the company. Today, more and more businesses are moving towards an accounting
solution to manage their financial transactions. Hence, it is very important for the business to
search for the best accounting solution for the business (Accounting tools, 2018). This report
is performing the comparative analysis between two accounting software that could be used
by David Jones in order to enhance its operations. From the analysis, the report will identify
the best accounting software solution for David Jones that it can use for expanding the
business as well as expanding product lines.
Overview of David Jones and its business activities
David Jones is the upmarket department store of Australia, which is owned and managed by
Woolworths Limited, the largest retail group of South Africa. David Jones was established in
the year 1838 by David Jones who is the Welsh trader and future politician after moving to
Australia (David Jones, 2019). In addition to this, David Jones is one of the oldest department
stores across the world still operates under its original name. Presently, David Jones operates
45 stores in the territories and states of Australia. One of the key competitors of the company
in the upmarket department store category is Myer. The stores of David Jones offer bags,
shoes, clothing, grooming products, intimates, accessories for men, women, and kids. In
addition to this, the company also offers skin care, electronics, bath products, technology
products, gifts sets, cards, mail, makeup, etc. (Bloomberg, 2019)
