1ACTION PLAN
What would it look like?
The documentary “What would it look like” directs its focus and concern to the fact
that the current global population with its vast cultural differences have contributed slowly to
the degeneration of the world over a long period of time. The concept of degeneration of the
world is not restricted to the physical problems that the earth is suffering from but also
incorporates the intercultural conflicts that has rendered the possibility of a civil global
harmony, a pipedream. From exploiting the natural resources for obtaining daily comforts to
the attempts being made to marginalise certain communities and cultures while promoting the
supremacy of the other, the issues are hot, critical and require urgent addressing. The
documentary, despite being small, significantly impacts the way people look or would look at
the world if they want to bring about positive change to the global society.
What issue matters to me?
The one issue that matters to me the most is the exploitation of natural resources
leading to depletion of the earth’s ability to sustain life. Humanity has come a long way from
looking for mere food and shelter to identifying the creature comforts as daily necessity (Cole
et al., 2013). What a lot of people tend to ignore is that at the backend of these comforts, lies
a toxic effect on the planet earth in the form of resource degradation, pollution and an
imbalanced ecosystem that cannot sustain life (Höök & Tang, 2013). What makes matters
worse is people’s attitude towards these issues and the tendency to pass on the blame and
responsibility to another party (Dryzek, 2013).
What can I do?
My primary action would include changing my own lifestyle in a manner beneficial
for the earth. One person’s efforts would be insufficient, which is why my actions would
signify what would happen if such changes were implemented in a larger scale. Moreover in
my opinion, this is an issue of global magnificence and has the potential to unite everyone in
