PASSAGE AND DEVELOPMENT OF ADA
Disability is a normal character among human beings. It is natural to have a population
containing a certain percentage of people with disabilities. In the United States, for instance,
approximately 13 percent of the whole population are people living with disabilities. The number
keeps on increasing as the population grows. Most of this people are discriminated in that they
do not have equal access to public services and other activities that are important in daily life.
ADA, therefore, needs to be developed and passed urgently to sort this dominant issue (Selassie
2008).
13 percent of the population is a significant portion to ignore. To address the issue
of discrimination among the people living with disabilities, ADA needs to be developed and
passed in a way that covers the issue entirely. The first component of the plan to develop and
pass ADA should be the definition of the real problem at hand. The definition entails the
discrimination and how it affects the disabled people. In this case, discrimination occurs where
these disabled people are denied access to same services and access to people with disability.
The sources of this discrimination are not intentional but are as a result of failure to address their
situations. With this information, all the states know what they are fighting against (Shakespeare
2013).
The second component of the plan should entail the solutions to the identified
problem. In this case, how to end discrimination is the central theme. The long-term cure for this
discrimination is healing the problem from its source. The act should entail some enforceable
laws against any form of discrimination. As for the denied access, disabled people’s needs
should be addressed in the public areas such as airports and other areas. The final component
should address the future effects of the outlined solution. The solutions deduced needs to be
