“Constraints of youth entrepreneurs in Ethiopia”
Introduction
This article investigates the major potential constraints of youth entrepreneurs in the
small and micro-enterprises in Ethiopia. The researchers first mentioned that rate of
unemployment in Ethiopia, and measure action taken by the government in order to
reduce unemployment rate and creating many job opportunities. Secondly, mentioned
some other countries entrepreneurial activity and rate of unemployment based on
result of study done before. Finally, they try to compare unemployment rate and
performance of entrepreneurial activity in Ethiopia with sub–Saharan Africa region, as
per the report result of (GEM, 2012, p. 2) the one possible reason why such poor
performances happen in Ethiopia is that low level of education which could imply that
many Ethiopians are simply not well equipped to become entrepreneurs. They also
presented the major potential constraints of youth entrepreneurs from results of former
researches, which are: limited access to finance, market access, government policies,
Weak institutional linkage, infrastructures, technology, as limited social support,
Unfavorable administrative, limited access to entrepreneurship training, and education.
Looking over introduction part of the study I have got more information about study
area which will help us to evaluate and justify the study, and personally appreciate the
researchers the way they presented other country study results to compare and relate
constraints with Ethiopia Context. But, we have complain on why they took
unemployment rate of Ethiopia reports for their study title rather than taking number of
entrepreneurs ,and performance of current entrepreneurs and small enterprises in
Ethiopia. Also, researchers fail to clearly state the statement of problem on the study; in

order to identify the problem; the authors should have cited information that
emphasized the high rate of unemployment for youths in Ethiopia.
Review of the Literature
Following the introduction, the researchers stated that theoretical framework and
review of the literature of other countries studies and challenges of youth
entrepreneurs in Ethiopia to define the variables as well as explain how those variables
have been previously studied. The stated review of the literature of other countries
studies are: Fatoki and Chindoga (2011) conducted research on the barriers of “Youth
entrepreneurship in South Africa” and found that finance, skills, and absence of
assistance were critical challenges; Affumetal (2012) carried out a study on “challenges
of young entrepreneurs in Ghana ”, and found that credit access, corruption, lack of
market access, lack of education and training, government regulations, work
experience and business information, infrastructure, and high interest rates as a major
challenge; Dzisi ( 2014 ) also conducted research on the “barriers to youth enterprise
creation in Ghana ” and the researcher found that inadequate access to finance,
management experience, and socio-cultural attitude as a major constraints of youth
entrepreneurs in Ghana; Jakubczak(2015) also conducted research on “youth
entrepreneurship barriers with reference to Poland respondents ” , and found that
charges of administrative procedures, finance, fear of failure, lack of knowledge,

) conducted research on the “barriers of entrepreneurship” and found that lack of
adequate capital, lack of skills, inadequate support, fear of failure, and the lack of
awareness as a major constraints ;Potabatti and Boob ( 2015) also found that
