Adult Education is a system of education that is aimed towards the adults for
educating them and giving them important lessons which they missed or did not attended. It
is very distinctive from Child education. It does not follow any systematic procedure as such
the children education system but is done mostly as community programs under
organizations. It not only help the learners but also the society in making it a better place to
live in. The knowledge and education helps the learners to develop their mental creativity and
make them aware both about themselves and the society. It boosts a confidence in them and
they seem to perceive themselves as better human beings. This papers aims to structuring a

Introduction
The practice of an education where there is engagement of adults in a sustained and
systematic way is known as Adult Education. It is very distinct from the concept of child
education. It contains self-educating pursuits for gaining new forms of skills, knowledge,
values or attitudes. It might mean any kind of engagement for adult learning that is beyond
the system of traditional learning where literacy is encompassed to a feeling of personal
fulfillment as lifelong experience of learning (Illeris, 2018.) However, planning an
educational program happens to be an ongoing and complex process where it is important for
the planners to consider all the important factors, people and contexts. This paper aims at
designing an adult education learning program and discussing all the measures relevant for
arranging the program.
Value of the project
Planning an educational program includes a series where decision making plays a
vital role throughout. It can take place and happen at different places, organization and aim at
different people. This event of adult learning program aims at the parents or generally
individuals above age of thirty who did not continue their education previously or left it
middle way. It will help in changing the lives of adult learners and at the same time keep up
with the changes of world. It will keep the minds of learners active and make them busy
socially. It will also feed an individual’s creativity that would contribute in their personal
growth (Pollock et al. 2015.)
Measures for accomplishing the goal
There are already wide range of adult learning program already available. Keeping that in
mind, it is important to opt for a program that is not only high in quality but also has all the

required measures needed to align with the set goals (Jo, Kim & Yoon, 2015.) The measures
for this program are as follows:
 Developing a comprehensive plan of campaign.
 Developing a corporate identity.
 Aligning the goals with wider agendas.
 Engage educational professionals.
 Pushing the stakeholders to take up roles of leadership.
 Using of online media.
 Appoint social ambassadors.
 Integrating the program within broader initiatives (Kauffman, 2015.)
Value to the adult learners and benefits
The components that come under this program of adult learning include the following
parameters:
 Reading.
 Writing.
 Math.
 English as Secondary Language.
 Cultural Literacy.
This program will not only add value to the adult learners only but also help in building a
better society as a whole. As far as the learners are concerned, many values will be added on
their side of the grass which is obviously greener without any doubt. It will help the learners
to cope up with new things about what is going on in the world. They will find it easier to
understand things properly and be more conscious about themselves (Christie et al. 2015.) It

will benefit them in all these ways and give them a feeling to learn more both about
themselves and whatever is going on around in a conscious way.

Methods to evaluate effectiveness
Some of the methods that can be incorporated to evaluate effectiveness of this program
are as follows:
 Monitoring national research: Monitoring the existing national research will enable
two activities. One is it will help the organization to identify the existing requirements
of population and accordingly develop activities. The second is it will allow
organizations identifying gaps and further commission the research accordingly.
 Pilot programs and use of pre-testing: Before organizing a program, it is very
important identifying the appropriate tools and channels. To ensure the optimal for
target audience, pre-testing will be done and certain adaptations would be made
according to feedback (Darling-Hammond, Hyler & Gardener, 2017.)
 Supporting external evaluations with internal monitoring: Apart from the formal
structure of evaluating program, regular measures would be taken for changing the
process and required policies to support all the evaluations done internally and
externally for benefitting the audience (Morrison et al. 2019.)
Barriers
There are plenty of beneficial outcomes that come with the engaged learners. These
barriers are to be considered seriously and preventive measures shall be arranged
accordingly. There will be no silver bullet that will help to tackle these obstacles (Brockett&
Hiemstra, 2018.) However, the barriers need to be understood properly first before even
thinking of planning the preventive measures. the identified barriers for this adult learning
program are as follows:
 Lack in focus and maintaining a consistency.
 Any past experience on both the sides of educators and learners that is negative.

 Difficulty in addressing a different approach and its acceptance.
Measures by directors to lessen these barriers
Some of the identified measures that can be taken by the directors to lessen these barriers
are as follows:
 Making of an onboarding period that actively showers the learners how all of them fir
in to this program and they shall also encourage their peers to join the campaign
whoever suits the area.
 The consistency of focus is to be maintained by changing the procedures of teaching
and introduce learning through interesting activities to keep the fluency of
engagement smooth.
 Reminding them of the common aim why there are in the program instead of their
diverse mindset. A common goal helps in focusing better and achieve it faster
(Kauffman, 2015.)
Assistance needed from the board
Even after building strategies and its application by the volunteers, the involvement of
higher authority or the board is required to assist some major gaps and sections. They are:
 The board must assure the learners about the benefits they are going to receive that
will change their life.
 Constant checking of the entire functioning.
 Being present twice in a month at the classroom.
 Arrange a fun activity such as picnic for the community (Rabourn, Shoup &
BrckaLorenz, 2015.)

However, it is concluded from the above discussion that how the program of adult
learning will help the learners and as well as forming a better society for better tomorrow.
Effective ways have been found and strategies accordingly to run the program smoothly.
Some of the barriers have been as well along with preventive measures to overcome them as
soon as possible. The program is expected to run smooth and change the lives of all the
attendees by making them more conscious beings.
