mainly focus on the role of
electrocardiogram or EKG
technicians, about their
care plan in treating an
adult suffering from
coronary artery disease. It
will also reflect the
requirement of building a
smooth relationship of
these technicians with
physician and patient.

ROLE OF ELECTROCARDIOGRAM
TECHNICIANS
• Electrocardiograph technicians, commonly called as
EKG tech, executes diagnostic tests in order to help
doctors in the identification and diagnosis of patient
suffering from cardiovascular problems. These tests
assists in the detection of irregularities, which may
lead to heart attack or any heart ailments (Peter,
2016).
• The technician also need to explain the patient
about the procedure of the tests before starting it.
They also need to know about the medications
taken by the patient before their arrival in the test
center. It is also the duty of the lab technicians to
check the patient’s blood pressure prior the test.
• After the tests, the tech records all the observation
and delivers it to the patient’s prescribing physician.

BACKGROUND OF CORONARY
ARTERY DISEASE
• Patients suffering from coronary artery disease are advised by their physician
to undergo electrocardiogram (Acharya et al., 2017). The early symptoms of
this disease are chest pain, squeezing, discomfort, high blood pressure.
Sometimes, patients misunderstood these symptoms with heartburn.
• The primary causes for coronary artery disease (CAD) is due to the vascular
injury along with panel of cholesterol deposit in the arteries (Varbo et al.,2013).
Hence, it is also called as atherosclerosis.
