Conceptual Frameworks and Models in Advance Practice Nursing

This presentation explores the conceptual frameworks, models, and theories that guide advance practice nursing. It discusses the Health Promotion Model, Humanistic Nursing Theory, and emphasizes the importance of a humanistic approach in providing care services.

Introduction
 I am prepared with clinical education, skills, knowledge, necessary scope
of practice related to the nursing profession
 Related to the domain of nursing practice that makes use of expanded
and extended skills
 Objective- To explore the conceptual frameworks, models, and theories
that guide advance practice nursing

Conceptual framework
 Health is the result of extensive interaction of an individual with the
environment and undergoes continuous changes over time.
 These frameworks facilitate establishment of a congruent association
between the intended goals and objectives
 They also facilitate grounding the lens of nursing in the advance practice
nursing curriculum (Schober, Gerrish & McDonnell, 2016)

Conceptual framework
 The framework considers human beings as exclusive persons who have
rights, worth, and inherent dignity
 Patients also have psychological, spiritual, social, biological, and cultural
characters that impact their development
 During the course of their life span, persons exist within specific social
and cultural milieu, and come across several phenomena that creates an
effect on their optimal health outcomes.

Nursing model
 Nursing conceptual model comprises of theoretical linkages between
several nursing concepts that help in providing a clear description of the
relationship that exists between them.
 The model selected is Health Promotion Model by Nola J. Pender
(McCutcheon, Schaar & Parker, 2016)
 It outlines health in the form of a constructive dynamic condition rather
than merely the non-appearance of disease.

Nursing model
 The foremost concepts of the model are discrete individualities and
experiences, previous behaviour, and the occurrence of the comparable
behaviour that had been manifested by the individual in the past.
 Personal features are characterised as psychological, biological, and
socio-cultural
 Apparent benefits of act are the expected positive consequences that
will happen from health behaviour

Theory
 Humanistic Nursing Theory takes into account both existentialism and
humanism to nursing theory, proposed by Josephine Paterson and
Loretta Zderad
 It takes into consideration the patient as a complete individual, rather
than merely an injury or illness.
 It focuses on fostering the emotional and mental health of the patients,
in addition to their physical wellbeing.

Theory
 Key concepts are as follows:
 training of the nurse knower for approaching to recognise
 nurse understanding of the other instinctively
 nurse realising the other methodically
 nurse complementarily amalgamating recognised others
 progression in the nurse from the numerous to the enigmatic one

Theory
 Adoption of a humanistic and humanistic model
 Placing due focus on the ease and comfort of the patient, in addition to
providing sympathetic attentiveness
 Interacting on a regular basis with the patient and his family members
 Being present with the patient for most of the time
 Fostering a good nurse-patient therapeutic relationship by manifesting
effective communication skills

Conclusion
 The basis of advanced nursing practice is characterised by high amount
of skill, knowledge, and experience, which when implemented in nurse-
patient/client relationship will help in accomplishing optimal health
outcomes
 The patients shall be considered as unique entities, having diverse
perceptions, beliefs, encounters, and assumptions
 The absence of any disease or injury must not form the foundation for
providing care services
 A humanistic approach needs to be adopted towards all patients, with
the aim of increasing patient satisfaction, and enhancing their health
and wellbeing
