2ADVANCED PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
1. Project introduction and basic parameters
This report depicts the role of project construction project management tools and techniques those
are required to be managed by any assigned project manager to successfully implement the project. In this
report the project about construction of a “shed at 94 Western Beach Road in Geelong, Victoria 3220,
[94WBR-shed project]”. In order to successfully implement the project necessary actions are required to
be taken by the project manager and the developed project team. For this particular project a 2D blueprint
using the concept of Building Information Modeling is prepared and approve by the architect and the
project managers. The scope of the project is to prepare a large shed on the property. In addition to this,
the project also includes the concept of some minor demolition work over the backyard and construction
of a large shed. In order to obtain successful outcomes and commercial as well as sustainable revenue
from the marketplace it is necessary for the construction team to consider all needful tools and techniques
for managing the project. Apart from this, there are certain project management parameters also available
in the market those are required to be considered by the project manager.
The key parameters those are to be used for the successful implementation of the 94WBR-shed
project include-project charter, project time, project quality, scope, project risk and project cost. In
addition other two things are there those are to be measured accordingly for the successful executions of
the construction project are proper communication plan and HR management plan.
2. Project management approach used for managing a project
Different project management approaches are available in the market those are needed to be
followed by the contractors, architects and the constriction project manager for implementing the

waterfall, etc. based on the types and size of the project the project managers should choose the most
suitable management approach. Basically, for the construction project the most commonly used project

comprises of five phases such as-initiation, planning, design, testing and implementation. Though, it is a
software development project lifecycle methodology but still in the construction sector also this approach
is used by the construction project managers. However, this project does not end up at the closure phase
as it needs continuous improvement plan in terms of post implementation maintenance. With post project
maintenance planning the 94WBR-shed project can become more sustainable in nature. In case of
iterative waterfall model the developers can include change management plan according to the changing
requirements of the contractors or stakeholders. Though in iterative waterfall model each and every phase
is interrelated to each other but still additional changes can be incorporated simultaneously. This
construction model always shows a linear approach. In this approach a large project is broken down into
small segments along with the kick off of the phase that are dependent upon the completion of the
preceding one.
