Cloud computing in data backup and data recovery
Abstract
In recent discussions, the cloud platforms have formed a major area of discussion
and thus have become one of the most widely discussed topics within research areas.
Wide the broad suite of advantages supported by the platform, the cloud has become
one of the primary areas of use within the data storage market as considered by
leading organizations. Based on focusing on the aspects of data storage, the data
recovery and data backup have also formed integral parts by associating them with
the cloud platforms. The rise in the number of cyber-attacks and data breaches
within the cloud platforms have also raised concerns for incorporating security
systems within the cloud platforms. Every organization would require an efficient
business continuity plan that would be backed up with high-end data storage and
security systems. Hence, businesses and industries using the cloud platform have
also focused on the implementation of efficient form of security measures during
storing useful data records and files over the cloud platform. However, along with
the importance of data backup and recovery, different other aspects should also be
considered before the full implementation of cloud computing facility for industries.
The discussion within the research would thus lay emphasis on the wide ranging
benefits and pre-requirements based on the implementation and use of cloud
computing platforms within the industries. Thus, the primary aim of conducting the
research is based on presenting a brief overview of the techniques to be used during
data backup and performing disaster recovery within the cloud environment.
Outline of the Proposed Research
The proposed research focuses on the impacts made by cloud computing in organizations. In recent
times, different risks approach towards a project. Risk in terms of cyber-attacks are considered as one
of the major forms of attacks, which pose towards organization. Moreover, with this risk, organizations

face major challenges in securing their data [3]. Hence, the proposed research focuses on the
importance of cloud computing, which would prove to be highly helpful towards securing the
organization and their underlined data.
The research would also underline the challenges faced by organizations with aligning cloud
computing usage with their existing systems. Hence, the research would also discuss the ways in which
organizations would be able to mitigate the challenges while incurring more benefits [1]. However, the
other primary aspect that would need to be discovered is based on understanding the efficient ways in
which data backup could be securely be performed over the cloud platform.
Background
Cloud Computing has become one of the popular technological solutions that has been adopted by
several organizations and businesses. The technology supports different industries and organizations
with their large scale computing resources and ability to share worldwide resources. Different users
making use of the varied cloud resources and services from all over the world [2]. In this discussion,
which focuses on the aspect of backup and recovery of data within the cloud platforms defines the
process of setting up of data systems in such a manner that there would be an easy flow of information
across all integrated platforms. Backing up of data would primarily require archiving of computer data
and replicating them and hence it is easy for getting access to such data in case of data deletion.
Purpose
The primary purpose of conducting this research is to envision the use of cloud computing for
performing data backup and recovery for organizations.
The goal set forward for the research is to discuss the various techniques approached by the
organizations to increase their backup and recovery capability of data using cloud computing
resources.
Rationale
The research is being conducted for understanding the primary requirements for backing data and the
techniques in cloud computing for performing data backup and recovering them efficiently [5]. Based
on the understanding developed from this research, it can be discussed about the various benefits
incurred by the organization in the future times.
Research Topic and central research question
The topic of the research focuses on the impact of cloud computing that would be formed over the
aspects of data backup and recovery of important data as required by the organization [8]. In this
research, the primary focus would be put on understanding the ways in which data backup could be
highly be helpful for organization in reducing the fatal chances of errors being happening over the
systems [6]. Thus, the research topic helps in presenting a clear over view over the problem being
faced by organizations and thus proposes a solution for the organization.
