The picture shown above is a cigarette advertisement of the American Tobacco Company
in the year 1936 for their brand Lucky Strike.
The advertisement shows a Radio star performing live on the Radio. The people with the
best voice were chosen to be Radio stars. The American Tobacco Company through this
advertisement claims that the cigarette Lucky Strike when smoked can help protect the throat of
the smoker from irritations and cough.
The advertisement is misleading to the people of America. Smoking causes more
irritation to the throat and prolonged use of cigarettes can give a sore throat. Smoking has always
been the cause of many deaths and preventable diseases since the times it was introduced to the
society. In 2015, 15.1% of Americans smoked which accounted for more than 480,000 deaths
every year (CDC, 2017). People who have been smoking for a long time are prone to throat and
lung cancer. Campaigns are organized to create the awareness of the harmful effects of smoking,
but these campaigns still lack efficacy. The educated and the rich were able to understand the
harmful effects of cigarettes and many quit smoking. It is the uneducated and the poor that the
campaigns failed to convince to quit smoking. Thus, the cigarette companies are reshaping their
marketing strategies to retain their customer base by focusing more on the lower socioeconomic
communities.

Song Analysis
The lyrics of the song I Wanna Grow Old With You by Westlife will be analyzed in the
following paragraphs.
This song is about the deep love between two people but fate has kept them apart from
each other. People in love desperately wish to stay together as living far away from each other
hurts them. They want to stay together forever, sharing every single moment with each other to
the last breath they take. Every day spent apart instead makes the bond between them even
stronger. Living apart is a risk they have taken as their bond could have been broken but it did
not. It was a risk worth taking as their love for each other deepened instead. In this world,
nothing remains the same. Change will happen and that is fixed in nature. Things will always
change but an everlasting bond of love will never change. No matter how much time has passed.
True love is not supposed to be a struggle when people are together; it is supposed to be a
struggle when they are apart (Ulmer, 2014).
Real relationships are quite different from the love portrayed in the song. Relationships
include commitment and perseverance. People, when faced with reality; suffer from anxiety and
depression after marriage because they have always defined love as the way depicted in the
romantic movies.
Love and relationship are two very different concepts of life and should not be confused
with each other.
