Artificial intelligence is defined as the capabilities of the computers and the technical
systems to perform the tasks in an intelligent manner which is usually performed by the human
beings. It uses the human intelligence and behaviour to perform the tasks. The only difference is
that tasks performed by humans can be inaccurate and slow working but the same tasks
performed by the computers are accurate with fast working in a successful manner. It is broadly
used for providing the personalised recommendations to the people based on the searches made
by the general public through the search engines. It is widely used in the commercial activities
such as in the optimization of products and planning of the inventory along with the logistics and
many more (Jackson, 2019).
There are basically two types of artificial intelligence which are used in the actual world
and organizations. Narrow artificial intelligence is one of the type of AI. General artificial
intelligence is an another type of AI. Narrow artificial intelligence is used which one task is to be
performed at one time and wants to improve the same task on a regular basis. It is the application
specific platform and task limited concept. It has the fixed models of domains which is provided
by the programmers. It performs the reflexive tasks with lack in understanding. It does not
transfer knowledge to other domains. It is widely used in the today's world. General artificial
intelligence is used when multiple tasks is to be performed. It performed human intelligent action
and it has the self learning ability by observing the environment. . It consist full range of abilities
of human cognition. It transfers knowledge to new domains and it is considered as the future of
AI (Taulli and Oni, 2019).

There are several merits of artificial intelligence. Such as it provides the increment in
efficient performing of the tasks in an efficient manner as well in terms of time and cost along
with the energy. It further assist in enhancing the workflows within the organization that helps in
the systematic working in the company which renders accuracy and security while performing
the tasks. It aids in lowering the rates of human errors because the task performed by the
computer using AI has 0.1 % of error rate as compared to the same task performed by humans.
Moreover, it speeds up the tasks if compared to the humans. Additionally, it analyse the data in
an in depth manner with more informed decision making in a strategic manner (Shaw, Rudzicz,
Jamieson and Goldfarb, 2019).
There are several demerits of artificial intelligence. Such as artificial intelligence has the
high cost of creation and development along with the installation and execution of the AI
concept. It makes the human being lazy because of the tasks is automated because if the
computer systems containing AI. It results in the high unemployment rate because there is no
need of humans as AI performs tasks in a more accurate manner. Moreover, it lacks out of the
box thinking that lacks innovation and creativity which can only comes from human mind
because AI does of what it is instructed to perform (Jordan, 2019).
There is the positive impact of artificial intelligence on society. This is because it
enhances the efficiencies at workplaces which can easily performs the repetitive or dangerous
tasks. It empowers many other programs such as it provides the connection with the friends and
improves the socialization and makes the life standard better than before. It has supported the old
age people with advanced technologies to live their old age in a more happier manner and also
has assisted the youth as well to develop innovative through the use of artificial intelligence
(Akerkar, 2019).
There are several applications of artificial intelligence. AI has helped E-commerce in
personalised shopping and fraud prevention. AI has supported educational system in creating
smart content and voice assistants. AI has assisted in automation and personalised learning along
with the spam filters and autonomous vehicles. Moreover, it has applications in facial
recognitions and recommendations systems as well. AI has aided in navigation and robotics
along with the human resources and healthcare as well. Furthermore, it has applications in
agriculture and gaming along with the auto mobiles and social media. Social media includes

Instagram and Facebook along with the Twitter. Additionally, further applications of AI in
marketing and chatbots which is followed by the financial sectors also (Shi, 2019).
