4AIR CARGO MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS
Introduction
In current decades the industry of air cargo has increasingly grown in world-wide and
now the economy of global has an integral part in it. In 2017, air cargo of nearly 52 million
metric tons are transported from airlines in the worlds. Value are represented as nearly 35%
of the yearly world trade merchandise. In the industry of global air cargo that capacity of air
cargo are arranged by airlines of combination passenger (Kalakou, Psaraki-Kalouptsidi and
Moura 2015) Capacity of airlines are also provided by dedicated carriers of all-cargo, like
Airlines of Nippon Cargo and Cargo-lux International Airlines along with integers, for
example Service of United Parcel (UPS), FedEx and DHL Express. Service of All-cargo are
functioned by specific freighter aircraft, where the capacity that are available is submerged in
the transportation of air cargo. Freighter aircraft has been designed expressly for the air cargo
carriage or which can convert passenger configuration into freighter aircraft and it is also
used in transportation of express, air cargo and forward better than passengers (Dresner and
Zou 2016). As per airplanes of Boeing Commercial, revenue ton kilometres (RTKs) nearly
about 56% of global air cargo are moved in special freighter aircraft.
Supply chain cargo are process of consignments movement from creation to
destination, and are complex and regulatory requirements of subject that range, when they
especially involve transport and international movement by air. Air cargo are highly different
in its value and physical characteristics. The cargo are handled through the chain by various
of entities with includes aircraft operators, varying responsibilities, postal operators,
consignors, express carriers, regulated agents and ground handlers (Domingues et al. 2014).

Discussion
Global air cargo operations
Handling of cargo are performed at many airports worldwide by many companies
both big and small. Risk of high potential are raised for handling in quality deviations.
International air transport associations drives the standards operations of ground handling
development, processes of best practices, procedures and harmonization and consistency

of efficiencies with operations which plays a critical role increasingly for industry of air
freight now days. Cargo committee’s priorities are aligned with a plan of working into the
ground operations group (GOG) and different sub groups. Airlines and cargo handlers
together are concerned with the cargo operations from IATA cargo handling consultative
council (ICHC).
Types of aircraft operated or fleet structure of Emirates sky cargo
