2AIR INDIA Introduction One of the oldest organizations that is a flag carrier is Airline India. The company is maintained by Air India Limited which is owned by a governmental enterprise (Pearson et al. 2015). The company also operates in a series of Airbus and Boeing aircraft that assists 94 domestic as well as international destinations. Every Organization bear a social responsibility that is a type of global private business self-regulation is called corporate social responsibility. The primary aims of this report are to analyses Air India’s corporate social responsibility and evaluate it. Firstly the report discusses air India’s corporate social responsibility, and secondly, the corporate social policy is evaluated. Thirdly, the report presents recommendation based on the analysis followed by a holistic view in conclusion. Air India’s CSR policy: Air India has been open about keeping its corporate social responsibility in their top priority and making it a hallmark for them. There are several activities included in Air India’s corporate social policy (Low and Lee 2014). Several principles guide the objective of Air India CSR policy for carrying out operations of CSR policy. The company aim to demonstrate an absolute commitment to the common good by good governance and by conducting responsible business practices. To actively support the development of state agenda in term of ensuring sustainable change is the company’s objective. It has also agreed extraordinary standards of quality in the name of delivering facilities in the social sector by the method of vigorous processes and replicable model creation. Also, the company aim to bring about a sense of empathy and equity among all its employees to motivate them towards giving service to the society (Airindia.in 2018).
3AIR INDIA The list below is the set of activities that are undertaken by Air India towards achieving the objectives mentioned above. ď‚·TheactivitiesofAirIndiainvolvethegoaloferadicatingpoverty,hungerand malnutrition. It promotes precautionary health care and sanitation along with creation of safe drinking water available. ď‚·To encourage education, special education and employment to enhance the vocation skills specifically across the women, children and elderly. To promote education and specialeducationamongvariouskindsofabledanddisabled.Ithaslivelihood enhancement projects as well. ď‚·The CSR policy aim to promote gender equality and to empower women.To build homes and hostels for women and orphans, old age homes and day care centers for the senior citizen of the country. It also aims to work on reducing the existing inequalities faced by economically and groups who are socially backward. ď‚·To ensure environmental sustainability, protection of flora and fauna and bring a balance in ecology. To protect animal welfare, agroforestry, conserve natural resources and maintain quality of water, air and soil. ď‚·The CSR policy includes protection of national heritage by restoring historical building and historical sites. Protection of art, culture and art related work by establishing libraries for public use. It involves promoting and developing of traditional art and handicrafts. ď‚·To take up procedures for the profit of armed forces veterans, war widows and their dependents. ď‚·To endorse rural sports and nationwide renowned sports and Olympic sports it aims to provide training.

4AIR INDIA It aims to contribute on prime minister’s national funds and other central government funds set up for socio-economic development. It is also for the relief and welfare specifically for the schedule castes, schedule tribes and minorities. Development of rural project. Analysis and evaluation According to Tai and Chuang (2014) corporate organization should not only profit- making agencies. It should bear specific responsibilities toward society and environment. CSR holds high importance in large companies for the reason it can make changes in the environment (Cheng, Ioannou and Serafeim 2014). According to Ni and Van Wart (2015) most of the large private companies have their way of contributing to the society. Similarly, Air India has been one of the Indian company that has committed to the society in several ways. Each policy of Air India’s corporate social responsibility is related to the most crucial problems of the country. With more than 1.32 billion India is a developing country. As stated by Jewkes, Flood and Lang (2015) poverty are one of the major social issues in India along with several other social problems such as illiteracy, social inequality and gender discrimination. Air India has addressed poverty and hunger issue in the CRS policy where they determine to eliminate the problem by providing education, safe drinking water and healthcare facilities. The CRS policy of Air India aims to provide education to the socially and economically backward people who target eliminating the bigger problem of illiteracy. According to Das and Singh (2014) several social issues in India needs to be taken care of by people capable of changing and the company has identified the most critical social problems and designed its policy accordingly. The CRS policy aims to empower the women, war widow and encourage the elderly and children with vocational training.
5AIR INDIA According to Collinet-Adler et al. (2015) environmental factors are highly responsible for various diseases. The Air India CRS policy has successfully shown its responsibility towards the environment by involving measures for the protection of flora and fauna. It has successfully mentioned its responsibility of working in a sustainable process. Protection of the nation’s heritage, art and culture by setting up a public library is the approach by CSR policy. The policy includes plans for the development of rural areas of India and by contributing to prime minister’s socio-economic benefits of the nation. The policy has important role-playing in promoting the sports of the country and Olympic. Air India CRS policy have included plans which are a contributing factor to the society, environment and culture. The policy has included measures to help the armed forces veterans as well as war widows along with their dependents. Recommendation The Air India CSR policy has covered the nation’s major social issues. Therefore, there is not necessarily any changes that are required to make it better. Several issues are undertaken, and considering the population of the nation, the company would need to invest more attention and resources. Although the policies are worth appreciation, it is hard to maintain and carry out every plan with business ethics. The employees would need to be motivated to the right amount as they are required to devote their part of service towards the policy. It is essential for the policymaker to ensure the commitments of the employees. Lastly, there should be short-term goals as well to measure the achievements.
