Alexander the great
In 336 BC, Alexander was a king of Macedonia and he is famous for breaking power of
Persian sequence of significant battles. His greatness is reflected in military legacy which he left
behind and is known as military genius. Cultural diffusion by Alexander is another factor which
indicates his greatness where he captured vast area and spread different technologies, ideas,
languages, etc. from one to another (Santillian and Randall, 2017). Similarly, achievements of
Alexander are remarkable and are influential symbol of his greatness like, conquest of sacred
band in battle of Chaeronea, sequential win for accomplishing control over Greece, defeat of
Achaemenid Empire in clash of Granicus River, etc.
Aim of Alexander was to match the success of Cyrus, who was his idol and was to become
ruler of biggest empire. Waldemar Heckel himself established that he is one of the world's
leading professionals on military affairs of Alexander (Naiden, 2018). However, Macedonians
did not appreciated efforts of king because he was absent during growth of economy and high
standards which was maintained by Macedonian general (Antipater). Moreover, his lasting
decisions led to series of civil wars which disrupted his empire. Worthington's is clearly able to
implicate efforts of Alexander which suggest that he was a great but on the other hand it true that
Kind spend lot of money on buying people in order to get them out of way (Worthington, 2018).
Thus, it is factual that Alexander himself discontented his people by distancing himself from
empire and interest in legal affair.
