Amin Sthapit murder trial
Introduction
This case focuses on the murder which was done by Roy Abanales Tabalbag. He
killed his girlfriend (Geecy Rebucas) because she was engaged in the sexual act with her
lover (Amin Sthapit). By seeing this act Roy Abanales Tabalbag was not able to control his
anger and was disappointed. His girlfriend was not loyal towards him and the step took by
her was wrong. In this case, the accused was guilty of manslaughter. So, in this paper, the
murder case will be discussed by considering the ethical theories.
Utilitarianism theory
This theory has a relation with the best action that helps to enhance the overall utility.
According to this theory, the utility is enhanced by the activity and the best act helps to
maximize the overall utility. It shows the wrong and right act done by an individual. By
emphasizing on this theory it is seen that feelings of a person are related to the actions or the
activities conducted by him on a regular basis. This also shows the attitude of an individual.
According to this concept, ego is one of the aspects which should be taken into consideration.
Next factor which is related to this theory is equality. The focus is given on the Equality so
that individuals can maintain proper care in their relations (Mill, 2016).
It can be evaluated that there are both positive and negative aspects of the act
considered by a person. By considering the murder case it has been investigated that Roy was
not able to control his angry just because of the wrong step was taken by his girlfriend. His
girlfriend was involved in the sexual act with her lover and at that moment he was not able to
control his anger. When a person takes any action it showcases the behaviour. To control the
anger is one of the important aspects that should be possessed by an individual. If anger is
controlled by a person then it can help him or her in taking a right step which is ethical in the
eye of law. The Person anger also showcases the negative behaviour (Koszegi, 2014). When
a person is disappointed then it is difficult to take right actions. The anger of a person is
related to the behaviour which is shown when the situation is not in control. It is important
for a person to control the anger so that unethical step cannot take place (Darwall, 2018).
Unethical steps are also related with the mind-set possessed by an individual. Relations are
managed if there is proper ethics considered by a person in the routine activities. The
activities can be completed in a proper manner when an individual consider all the ethical
concepts in their daily activities (Bowen, 2017).

When an individual is involved in the wrong at then they have to face the decision
given by the law. Punishment and penalties will be faced by an individual when they conduct
any unethical act. Roy took a wrong act which is unethical in the eye of law. He has to face
the penalties because of the wrong action taken by him in anger. Roy murdered Amin Sthapit
because they are involved in the sexual act which made him angry. The anger was not
controlled by him. Programs related to work are taken into consideration which emphasizes
on managing the activities of the society.
Deontology Theory
This theory is related with the concept that assists in judging the actions which are
conducted by a person. The self-confidence of an individual is also related to the concept
which showcases that it is important to consider the rules so that actions can take place in an
effective manner (Lazar, 2017). The concept is related to the ethics that should be taken into
consideration at the time of judging the acts or the obligation related to the morality. Morality
is the aspect on which focus is given to consider the obligations in a proper manner. It has
been seen that morality has a connection with the act which depends on the particular
situation (Barrow, 2015). There are also various factors like the laws related to religion and
the values of the profession that are linked with this theory (Kehoe, 2015).
By considering the murder case it can be seen that Tabalbag took an unethical act
which is not correct in the eye of law and also according to ethics. The person who conducts
unethical steps is not accepted in the society. The adverse effect can be minimized if ethical
concepts are considered by a person in an effective manner. Unethical act considered by the
people are not supported by this theory and it can be seen that individuals are penalized who
take wrong actions in their lives (Fichte, 2016).
Virtue theory
According to the theory, it is essential to have proper coverage of a person and also
differentiation should be made between the individuals. The power is concerned with the
concept of thinking and also the individual behaviour and habit is the result of the overall act.
The expression is also one of the major element on which focus is given by a person (Solum,
L.2018). The attitude and behaviour of an individual can be evaluated and it is seen that the
activities in a proper manner if a behaviour is good for a person. There are many concepts on

which focus should be given so that individual can operate the activities in a proper manner.
The step taken by his girlfriend was wrong and it is not ethical and Tabalbag loses his
control.
Contract theory
To survive in the society it is essential to have positive acts so that society can accept
the individual in a proper way. If a person focuses on doing unethical act then the negative
impact can be seen in the actions. Positive results are considered so that ethical acts can be
done by a person. The relations are managed if a person focuses on ethics. Punishment is the
only solution of the unethical act according to the ethics. There are many links in the contract
theory and for a better life, it is important to consider the contract theory (Star, 2015).
The aim behind any act is to secure the people so that harmony can be enhanced.
Also, a wrong act can give effect on a person and as Tabalbag has taken the wrong step
which is unethical in the eyes of law so it is important to have proper patience so that acts can
take place in an ethical manner and also negative impact is given on the other people.
Conclusion
In the concluding part, it can be said that ethics are related to the concepts and it is
important to focus on the policies at the time of doing an act. If the policies are taken into
consideration then individuals will not act in the wrong manner as it can lead to punishment
in the eyes of law. It is important to consider ethics in the life of an individual so that
activities can be completed in a right manner.
