Travel behavior may be referred to the manner in which the tourists conduct
themselves in accordance with their attitudes while travelling and visiting to a particular
place. Knowledge in relation to travel behavior and motivation of the tourists to visit places
shall help in the development of the marketing and product strategy, which shall increase the
number of tourists in a particular place. This report will deal with the tourist behavior of the
Gold Coast, an Australian city, in the state of Queensland. This report will include an
overview of features of the city, the motivation of tourists to visit the city, the environmental,
social, political and ethical issues having an influence on the city and its competition with
other related tourist spots.

The Gold Coast is a seaside city in Queensland, a state of Australia. Among other
cities in Australia, it is the sixth largest and it is the second-largest city of Queensland. In the
1920s, after the Surfers Paradise Hotel was established, the Gold Coast extended massively.
In the 1980s, Gold Coast enjoyed the spot of one of the world’s most attractive tourist
destination (Killingray, 2017). Presently, this city attracts a vast amount of tourists and is
famous for surfing beaches, skyscrapers, various themed parks, rainforest and the nightlife.

The city is almost 41 miles or 66 kilometers to the south of southeast of Brisbane and
instantly north to the border of New South Wales. It ranks as the sixth largest among other

Gold Coast is an area that is miscellaneous of various things. It is varied in relation to
places, events and population. The primary selling points of the city are the beaches, the
adventure theme parks, the high-rise skyscrapers, the parties and the nightlife and the vast
rainforest. In the northern part of the Gold Coast, Sanctuary Cove is a blend of good life
where dining, golfing, boating, shopping and entertainment is very evident. It consists of the
voguish Marine Village with all its features but the actual attractions are the golf courses and
the beautiful serene waterways. The South Stradbroke Island extends all the way to the
Moreton Bay, which is considered as a World Heritage. It is an arena for the recreational
water sports like scuba diving, snorkeling, Jet Ski and water related sports. The central part of
Gold Coast constitutes the Surfers Paradise, Main Beach, Burleigh Heads and Broadbeach
(Dredge & Jamal, 2013). The main selling points in this area are the beautiful gardens in the
Broadwater Parklands, a series of areas where barbeque is free, playground for adventure
sports and beaches where the people can swim in the calm waters. The southern part of the
Gold Coast is very spacious and commodious. It is famous for the selling points such as
Kirra, Currumbin and Coolangata that consists of the unique semi-tropical coastline. It also
portrays the exemplary cultures of the beaches. Kirra is known for the point-break area for
the surfing superstar Kelly Slater. The western part of the city is called the Hinterland. It has
