Assignment 1:
Answer 1:
An interview has been conducted on the basis of a manually designed questionnaire for
understanding the style as well as structuring of a healthy community. This assay will also
focus on the effect of the aforementioned factors on the potential strengths and barriers of
various social determinants of health. SAs defined by WHO Social Determinants of Health
are the conditions wherein people are born, die and live in (Braveman & Gottlieb,2014). The
interview have been conducted in the house of a Muslim family in my neighborhood. Mr.
Khan is the owner of the house who runs a small family business. His family consists of six
members including his wife, his two children and his parents. Mr. Khan’s father has held the
tradition of their business for years before retiring from his profession due to his poor
eyesight. His mother has been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for the past few years and
has been bed ridden ever since. They belong to a native Muslim culture being Muhammad’s
earnest followers from the beginning of their generation. They belong to low income middle
class family. Coming to the issue of spirituality, they believe in spiritual notions and there is
the existence of life after death. Moreover they believe that good or bad deeds during their
lifetime will surely be decided and awarded or punished after death. Lack of education often
lead to their staunch faith in superstitions and the principles underlying them. They live in a
healthy environment where prevalence of religious tolerance is observed. Moreover, cases of
religious turmoil or riots have not been since their arrival at the neighborhood.
Answer 2:
Health behaviors are important for a society. According to studies, there is a lack of
adolescent activity pertaining to health behaviors (Parker et al., 2018). Overall the health of
Mr. Khan‘s family is moderate with a chance of declining. Mr. Khan’s parents both suffer

from incurable ailments and have difficulty in following a normal life. The only health
behavior followed in their case is a strict diet plan and meditation. Mr. Khan’s mother has
been undergoing physiotherapy for the past five years and has shown considerable
improvement in her health than before. Her medical reports show a healthy sign and speedy
recovery. However, Mr. Khan’s father cannot follow such exercises which have often been
shown to have a negative impact on his health. He therefore follows meditation for two hours
early morning with a strict balanced diet. Earlier, Mr. Khan had obsession regarding alcohol
consumption and smoking which was negative health behavior. However, after being
diagnosed with liver ailments he has reduced the effect of smoking and drinking. As for his
children, his only son is victimized by the present education system and often suffers from
one of the most important health behaviors, depression. He often has to visit the counselor of
his university for psychological counseling. Women of his house, on the contrary follow a
healthy and strict health behavioral plan including regular physical exercises and
maintenance of a strict diet.
Current health of the family is much better than earlier after following a maintained
regular lifestyle implementing the correct strategies for a healthy life style. The health
condition is moderate but the family has difficulties with the expenses incurred due to their
previous health related issues. Mrs. Khan’s rheumatoid arthritis has been under control after
implementation of physiotherapy. Moreover Mr. Khan’s health has improved after cessation
of his habits of smoking and drinking. Their son is mentally fit after regular counselling
session with his university counselor. The counselling procedures have been effective in
subsidizing his mental dilemmas and the increasing issues of depression.
