MAIN BODY
Mechanisms for reporting poor practice in health and social care
The poor practice in a health and social care is when the staff fails to provide the patients
with the standard health care services for care as well as support. It happens when the staffs
ignores the rights of the service user for enjoying the ordinary life during their shifts. This type
of ignorance and poor practice can be very dangerous and harmful for the patients and turn into
an abuse. The mechanism for reporting the poor practice starts with the recognising the poor
practice and abuse.
Abuse can be defined as the harm caused by the individual staff member or a group of
staff member, it can be happened in a single incident or can be an on-going process. Harm can be
caused to the lives of the service users due to effect of some organisational practices (Saini and
et.al, 2017). The abuse can be of many types like negligence, financial abuse, physical harm,
theft, discrimination, sexual abuse, misuse of the medicine and emotional or physical harm. This

The health care workers follow up the matter and note them such as the night care worker
can take notes of the service user when they say they are not feeling well and are unwell during
their bed time. The morning worker can check on the service user if they are feeling better in the
morning or need the doctor.
It is the responsibility of the support worker to report abuse or poor practice to the
manager. If not acted upon they can go to the senior manager. The support workers are also able
to report to the local authority Adult Safeguarding team and the Care Quality Commission.
The frontline manager guides the staff for the abuse that is taking place and in case the
abuse did not stop then they can go to the senior managers. They can also directly contact about
their concerns to the local authority Adult Safeguarding team and the Care Quality Commission.
The investigation is on the local authority Adult Safeguarding team if someone is harmed
(Curtis and et.al, 2017). They can make changes for the support, can suspend the staff while the
investigation and can even report the police if the harm is a crime.
England has a regulator for the residential carer homes that is CQC (care quality
commission). They make the standards for the care homes and are able to shut the services that
are not meeting the set standards.
Roles of regulatory bodies that inspect health and social care provision
The regulatory bodies that inspect health and social care provision are there to protect the
public from the abuse. The regulator of health and safety at the workplace is HSE that is a

Midwifery Council (NMC) ensures that the professional standards are maintained along with
making them better than the HSE. They improve the standards of the provisions and avoid the
recurrence of the incidents. They report the accident or the incident under the Reporting of
