Role of leadership in success of Amazon Give autonomy to employees- Amazon believes in giving autonomy to its workers. This allows them to have full control on their own projects. Employees of the company wants to perform their best as they feel that company trusts them to lend control over project (Schipper, 2017). Gives vision to employees- Amazon wants its every employee to think that it’s the everything store and take that thought process everywhere you go with it. The company focuses on satisfying the client as they believe that satisfying them will bring profits to them. This also makes taking decision easy. Putting and enabling this idea in the mind of employees has helped the company to reach success (Fischer, 2016). Be patient- Even before the commencement of the company Bezos had a vision which was to grow exponentially and transform with the pace of available technology in the market. The company was patient as not many people were friendly with the idea of buying goods online but its their patience that has helped the company to reach where they are (Tsuboi and Nishi, 2017). Embrace failure- Bezos does not fear failure instead he embraces it. Company has had many up and downs for instance in the year 2000 Amazon invested in Pets.com and it crashed. On the other hand there are many investments made by the company which they consider taking it as a risk which
was worth it. That path helped the company to develop their own web services, then they acquired Zappos and many other unique ideas which has helped them to become successful. Jeff Bezos has always motivated their employees to invest in calculated and experiencing risk which helps them to take steps on their own which is not done in many companies (Lacerenza and et.al., 2017). Find those who are best and go after them obsessively- Major divisions and teams run in the company is by best considered by Bezos. Former global president of Ralph Lauren recently joined Amazon and now working as a president of Amazon Fashion. For instance company has send out lists of people for hire who are best in their area of work and they have promised them to offer work with autonomy (Jäppinen, 2017). Offer them new roles when the time is right- Amazon also promotes their employees inside the organization extensively. Amazon puts a lot of effort in setting up the right team and the division for work. It puts their employees in charge of their teams or division when the company feels that they are ready for it (Hoch and et.al., 2018). Embrace external trends- Bezos is ready for a new set of opportunities, he also feels that AI is the current external trend where the hub of technology needs to be investing their resources. Many of the companies has gone obsolete by working for and under the same conditions (Di Tommaso, Stilo and Velardi, 2017). Never eliminates small team and quick decision making The teams that the company has is usually small in numbers and given the autonomous nature of the company forces the employees to work substantially which helps them to grow instead of large no of other employees who are working for the company (Inyang and Ekeng-Ita, 2016).
