1.0 Introduction
The success or failure of a project depends on significant constraints that are
associated with the project from the planning of the project until its execution. These
constraints are identified as the project planning phases, necessary scope of the project,
resources associated with the project, risk management techniques, controlling and
monitoring, communication and the overall management of the project. The success as well
as the failure of the project significantly depends on these factors. This report will deal with
the overall analysis of a successful project that is the Bandra Worli Sea Link project (BOSE
2019).
This project is identified to be successful in terms of significant facts that are
associated with the overall planning of the project until its successful completion. This
project is significantly identified as a success project in accordance to the project
management triangle or the Iron Triangle. This triangle states that there are certain
constraints, which are very important in respect to the success of a project. The further
sections of the report will deal with the overall aspects that will justify the project as a
successful one.
2.0 Evidence of Research
Some of the significant researchers with the stated project depicts this project to be an
engineering marvel as well as architectural wonder too. This bridge is one of its kind present
within the country of India (Othman & Ahmed 2015, p. 730-746). The significant
specifications of the project is depicted as the length of the overall bridge and the
infrastructure of the bridge, which is very unique that it is open sea project. The length of the
bridge is about 5.6 km with eight connecting lanes. The approximate budget that was required

for the completion of the overall project is Rs. 1600-crore. This bridge connects Bandra and
Worli and is built on the Arabian Sea.
The construction of the bridge accompanied around 2850 workers as well as 150
extremely knowledgeable and skilled engineers that helped in the overall construction of the
project (Wissink 2015, p. 1-11). This project took a total time of approximately 8 years thus
providing a successful bridge that helped the end users to avail this bridge from Bandra to
Worli in just 8 minutes whereas before this took 45 minutes.
This bridge mainly consists of twin concrete continuous box Girder Bridge for the
specified traffic of individual directions. Each individual bridge section except the portion of
the cable strayed is identified to be supported on the piers that are significantly spaced around
50 meters apart. The steel that is required for the construction of the bridge mainly was
provided by the potential organization of Steel Authority of India Limited (O Oliomogbe & J
Smith 2014). The bridge is identified as one of the longest bridge in South East Asia.
The significant success of the project depends on certain factors most likely is the
appropriate planning of the project. The ground study of the project was well analysed by the

spans that are depicted go be conventional. The significant smaller cable section is depicted
to be 350m long as well as consists of 2 smaller cable stayed that possess 150m centrally
spanned strings. There are 264 cables attached or associated within the infrastructure of the
overall project.
The overall planning of the project was distributed in the form of five packages that
led to the effective planning of the project thus leading the project to be successful (Rai
2017). These packages are stated below:
Package 1: The first step is associated with the construction of a flyover over the Love Grove
junction at Worli.
Package 2: The second step is associated with the construction of the cloverleaf interchange
in respect to the Mahim Intersection.
Package 3: The third step is associated with the construction of the solid approach road from
the stated interchange to the Toll Plaza.
Package 4: The fourth step is depicted to carry out the construction of the central cable
stayed spans in respect to the northern as well as southern viaducts in respect to Worli until
the Toll Plaza, which is present at the Bandra End.
Package 5: Improvement in the Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Road.
The significant phase related with the package 4 is depicted as the large and main
phase of the Bandra Worli Sea Link Project. The technical challenge faced by this phase is

depicted as the usage of the Cable Stayed Bridge with the include of the viaduct approach
thus extending them from Worli until the Toll Plaza present at the Bandra End. Moreover, the
modern toll plaza construction was also a significant approach that is associated with the
construction of this project.
The primary structure of the overall bridge is depicted to use the two continuous box
Girder Bridge that are made of concrete in regards to the traffic that are moving in particular
directions (Jain, Grafe & Mieg 2015, p. 193-213). The cable-stayed bridge for the
construction of the project is depicted to be the important section associated with the project.
3.0 Development of Discussion
The significant management of the overall project depicts that the project is a
successful one. This implies the budget, the managing committee as well as the overall
workers and engineers associated with the execution of the project (Koenig 2014, p. 126).
This has led the project to be executed within the specified delivery as well as the post
management of the bridge is also so efficient that the project is depicted to be a successful
one.
The overall budget of the project is identified as an approximate value of 1600 crores.
The financing of the budget is stated to be very frequent in respect to the fact that the project
did not faced any interruption in the overall procedure of execution (JUNQUEIRA & PMP
2016). This budget is used for the significant important resources such as the steel, concrete
material, cable stayed components as well as the engineers and the workers that are implied
are skilful as well as knowledgeable. This constraints and the usage of the budget in the
perfect as well as proper manner helped the associated authorities to carry out the project in
an effective way.
