HEALTH PROMOTION DOCUMENTS1IntroductionHealth promotion is a process that enables the common people to increase control overtheir health. The prime target of health promotion strategies is to positively impact the health ofthe communities and the individuals positively and also influence the health and workingcondition of the working people (World Health Organization, 2018). This study is based on thecomparison of three key historical health promotion documents of Lalonde Report, the EppReport, and the Ottawa Charter.Key messages and conceptsThe Lalonde Report- this report is based on the concept of health field, which identifiestwo health related objectives: the health care system, and promotion of better health and at thesame time prevention of the health related problems. The report is considered to the firstdocument that shed light on the fact that emphasizing on the biomedical health is wrong (Sarker& Joarder, 2012). Epp Report- This report emphasizes on a framework, which describes the healthpromotion in terms of the service goal (increasing prevention), social goal (inequality reduction),individual level goal (enhance coping). The health promotion report differentiates theintervention channels from the implementation strategies (MacDonald et al., 2013). Ottawa Charter- this charter was both developed and adopted in an internationalconference organized by WHO. The charter recognized the basic approaches and strategies ofhealth promotion which is considered to be vital for the progress in health (World HealthOrganization, 2018). Similarities and differences among frameworksThe similarity between all the three reports or documents is that, they all focus on thehealth promotion of the Canadians. The approaches taken up by both the Ottawa charter and theEpp report is also similar. While there exists a difference in the health promotion strategy takenup by the Lalonde report in comparison to the other two documents.
