From the Shut Out Report, the problem of people with disability have been addressed in
the dream house project. The disability highlighted in the dream project is of three people who is
suffering from autism and impaired vision. Other problem from shut out report that has been
addressed in the dream house project is mental problem of the children ((Australian government
shut out, 2009) The project has clearly highlighted these issues and encountered it with full
efficiency.
The dream house project is helping the children with disability to become self-resilient.
In the dream house project, the children were made learn how to become independent in their life
by making them try new things. They were guided in every step to life. The real life context of
the dream house has addressed the issue identified on the basis of the policy and principle of the
NDIS and CRPD. In reference with the commonwealth of Australia, 2010-2020 various key
policy has been identified which is relevant with the real life context shown in the dream house
(commonwealth of Australia, 2011). According to the policy and principle of National
Disability Insurance Scheme and Common Right of Person with Disability, it ensures the value
of participants and the people with disability additionally encourage the innovation in the project
of communities and atmosphere to invite the involvement of people with equal opportunity. The
principle of the scheme set out to show respect for the intrinsic dignity and autonomy of the
individual. It is evident from the dream house project, that the children were given respect for
their disability and work has been done to make them self-dependent. Further, in the project,
effective participation of the children has been highlighted which is relevant with the principle of
policy of NDIS (United Nation, 2006). The other policy in the strategy is to accept the person
with disability as the part of diversity in human and nature of humanity. equal opportunity and

equality in gender is the other main policy of the strategy. According to the strategy, the
principle to respect the rights of children with disability in order to preserve their individualities
is important. In relation with the policy of NDIS and CRPD, the real life context of dream house
has explained the above mentioned principle. The children were given equal opportunity to learn
new things, there were no discrimination made among them on the basis of gender. They were
taught to do new task will effective participation of each one. Respect was shown towards the
children with disability to preserve their identities.

Person who have idea about the things they want to do but do not know how to achieve it.
Some are there who dream of something and wish to turn it in reality (Thompson, Kilbane &
Sanderson, 2007). Person Centered Approach is the way out to make the plan for the families
and person and help them. It is the process which involves continuous listening and learning with
the major focus on the person who needs help in present and future. It involves the working with
the disable persons (Sanderson.H, 2000). The major principle of person centered approach is that
the person care and need is the most priority thing for the approach. It is evident from the dream
house project, each of the children kirk, Justin and Sarah is the major focus for the care. They
were away from their families to be independent in their life. The support staff assist them in
doing new thing, listening to their query and address those with full respect. On good
communication with the children and the families the support staff identified the type of care
that’s need to be given to the children. It is seen from the dream house project, the children were
not compelled not do any task, their choice were given preference. The support staff understand
their capabilities and strength and planned the thing accordingly. Sarah is vision impaired girl,
support staff identified her potential and made her learn to cook and how to feel independent.
