INTRODUCTIONThe role of and responsibilities of Human resource management has increased with spanof time. Traditionally the activities carried out by Human resource were considered to be timeand cost consuming activities. But now in modern time their role is considered to be mostimportant in selecting the candidate who possess the best skills and talent.This study will focus on the Role of human Resource management in TESCO which is thelargest retail chain in UK and they are serving globally. In addition to this company hasemployed approx. 500000 people worldwide. This project will include the various humanresource strategies, recruitment and selection process and the methods used by company inretaining their employees. The study will also formulate various plans that will help in measuringthe performance of staff.TASK 1STRATEGIES USED BY COMPANYWell-established and well-defined strategies are used by TESCO, these plans have helpedthe firm in strengthening and expanding its core business. As the company has its chain ofoutlets operating worldwide the organisation has formulated feasible Human resource plan, thismeans the company timely reviews its strategies and makes changes in its plan according tocustoms and variations. The triple head approach used by firm has helped firm in recruitingtalented, motivated and skilled staff which has helped the firm in achieving their goals. The mostimportant plan used by firm is training and development in terms of both time and money.TESCO considered its staff as the most valuable resource and focuses on employee’ssatisfaction.(Chelladurai and Kerwin 2017.)Atkinson's firm modelThe model aims at bringing flexibility in all functional and financial activities for company whois operating worldwide and has global chain. These firms comprise of number of workers whoare outsiders, some may not be the part of organisation, AS there are temporary workers oncompany the short term contract by employees may have effects on its operation. In order toavoid this the Atkinson's had proposed the model to reduce effect of different types of employeeson organisations effectiveness. Atkinson's identifies that every company should seek for1
financial and functional activities by appointing core workers, full time workers which includesfull time staff who would execute all important activities in organisation. Hiring staff arecircumfrential. It provides rewards on the basis of their performance. Along with, the companyaims at resolving various issued faced by its members, they ensure that employees should not bediscriminated. Strategy leads to staff satisfaction and help them to work with dedication andincrease their contribution by innovating new ideas which help firm in resolving various issues.It also lead to development and their contribution towards growth of organisation. ROLE of human resource managementHuman resource manager plays vital role on planning and implementing various policies andplans in any organisation. HUMAN resource director contributes in collecting ideas fordevelopment and launching of new products. The HR Organize and conducts motivationalprogrammes and training for motivating employees working at lower level of organisation. Thedirector of human resource assists in arranging and scheduling of various operational andfunctional activities. They frame various policies for benefit of employees and also provide theway of passing various operation and functional issues to upper level on order to get solution forresilving these issues.(Cooke.
