INTRODUCTION
Tourist destinations are the major source to attract the people in the country. These are
the places of interest where the visitors arrive to know about the culture and popularity of the
destinations. It also includes the natural beauty, attractiveness and historical value of the place. It
can be said that these places are also considered as a source of income for the people who are
involved in the travel and tourism sector. It also includes the old historical buildings which have
a significance related to their past and have excellent architecture developed by the kings of the
empire. In this context, analysis has been done to know about the main tourist destinations across
the world which are main attraction for the visitors and big source of income of the people in the
country.
TASK 1
1.1 Analyse the main tourist destinations and generators of the world.
There are a number of tourist destinations in the world to visit. People like to visit
different places to experience culture, beliefs, food, environment and nature around the world.
Tourists find a place interesting to explore on the basis of the venues it has to offer, such as
architecture, natural springs, hills, valleys, mountains, gardens, etc. These tourist also find a
place an interesting one to visit on the historical background of the venue, it is found in the
common nature of the tourist that they like to visit places with a story behind its existence or a
story of a glory associated with the place (Places to visit in India, 2017.).
The tourism UK and Europe has increased at a rapid rate in past years due to the increase
curiosity of the people to know other cultures, beliefs and countries. The revenue earned by the
tourism industry is really high and adds up a great sum to the GDP of many countries. The
tourism industry has flourished with its growth in earning revenue and increasing the number of
tourists in the world.

The tourism industry contributes directly to the GDP of countries in the whole world , the
number of countries that has tourism as its main source of income area depend on the tourism as
the prime business of the country, such as Thailand (Tortella and Tirado, 2011). The UK and
Europe tourism also gives rise to other business factors in the places, it promotes hotel, food,
etiquettes and other such business in the places. These businesses flourish with the increase in
the number of tourist and create a great amount of revenue from the coming tourist in the
country. The direct contribution to the GDP of the countries via tourism industry was estimated
to be US $2204 billion in the year 2016 (Fernández-Cavia and et.al., 2014). The tourist
expenditure the year 2015 was estimated to US $1312609 million around the world by the
tourists. These show that the total revenue created from the TUI group provide a large amount of
business to the world.
1.2 Analyse the statistics to determine tourism destination trends and future.
The tourism industry is taking a high approach end to grow at the global level. The world
tourism is increasing at a hike note and the tourists are willing to spend a large sum of money on
exploring and living in other countries. These tourists spend a sum of money on hotels,
restaurants and other venues to enjoy their holiday (Pechlaner, Kozak and Volgger, 2014). The
most visited destinations have been summarised in the table below:

tops the list with the most number of visitors in the world. The city of London in UK is the
second most visited city in the world, London is a place of exotic hotels and luxury living

experience for the tourists (Ringer, 2013). The main attraction is the tower London. Paris has 18
million tourists from around the world 2016 which is less than compared to that of 2015. Paris's
most attracting venue is Eiffel tower. Dubai is known for its exotic holiday destinations and
hotel, which are the most luxurious in the world (Hao and Ryan, 2013). The Dubai hotels
provide the most exotic care with the cultural view point of region. New Delhi and Prague have
the architectural designs which are a delight to visit.
The current trend of travelling has changed with the perspective and feature of online booking.
The plans for holiday are picked in advance with hotel bookings and tour (Mair, Ritchie and
Walters, 2016). The industry of online booking is growing with a swift speed and is providing
more and more facilitate to its customers with its plans for the destinations which are most likely
to be visited by the tourists. These sites in the future are going to grow with its reach being wide
to the users.

2.1 Analyse the cultural, social and physical features of tourist destinations
There are several tourist destinations in the countries which are considered as the centre
of attraction for the people and well known for their physical importance. The united nation is
the country which is well known for the museums or considered as the land of museums across
the world. These museums consist of architecture which describes about the different cultures,
religion, ethos and belief of the people in the country. It can be said that the tourism sector
provide major a support to the GDP of the UK and provides a financial growth to the economy of
the country (Saunders, 2011). It also consists of various kinds of factors which needs to be taken
in to consideration such as social, cultural and physical features for these tourists destinations in
order to influence the people who arrives to spend holiday and for the purpose of enjoyment.
These factors will determine the aspects which describes the nature of popularity of the
destinations. In relation to this, as a assistant product development manager at the TUI group it is
the responsibility to analyse these factors to know the new business opportunities and building
the knowledge about the requirements of the customers who are interested to visit the overseas
destinations (Beritelli, 2011). Analysis of two major destinations in the countries United
kingdom and Europe is accomplished to understand the appeal

Cultural features : These are the destinations which includes the heritage and historical
buildings which are developed by the ancestors such as museums, monuments etc. In order to
attract the tourist to these destinations have been given more importance in the tourism sector. In
countries like UK these architectures or the buildings are mainly found in London which is a
most visited tourist destination and also founded at Europe in Paris (Alegre and Garau, 2010).
These places are will provide a clear understanding of culture to the visitors. It also provides an
impact on the craft and design market in London and enhance the cultural aspect of the countries
across the world.
Social features: It is also a main feature to increase the tourism sector in the countries like UK
and Europe. There several social benefits which have been recognised to appeal and attract the
visitors at the tourist destinations. It consists of local regional and national communities of the
destinations in the countries. It has been considered that the welcoming nature of the people
motivates the tourists to arrive and stay more at the destinations (Torres-Delgado and
Palomeque, 2012). Tourism industry helps to provide growth to the local community and people
of the community are committed towards the achievement of development in the country. These
aspects will provide growth to this sector and also benefits to the firms like TUI group to expand
their business.
Physical Features: it includes the natural beauty of the destinations which are centre of
attraction for the tourist like mountains, rivers, beaches, forest and landscapes etc. These are
natural source of tourism sector for the people of different countries and attract the number of
visitors. It has been recognised that in the cities like London and Paris their various places like
Musical fountain in London and Seine river in Paris (Laws, 2011). It includes the geographical
area of places which makes destinations more beautiful and attractive environment to the tourist.
It also provides benefits to the tourism sector and should be considered as resource to expand the
services provided by the tourist operators. Hence, these tourists places have a geographical
resource that have great appeal in the visitor's mind.
2.2 Comparison of features of developing and leading tourist destinations.
The unique quality of destination and development of its features is directly affected by
the tourism. Different features of the destinations will impact the attractions of the visitors and
also provide a way to the tourist planner to influence the people of different country. It has been
considered really important for the purpose of providing an ethical information to the tourists

about the destinations. There are various features which can be compared between the leading
tourist destinations and the countries like infrastructure, branding and management of old
heritage buildings (Zhang and et.al.,, 2014). In addition to this as a manager of the TUI group an
analysis of the developing and leading tourism destination is accomplished to attain the objective
of the firm to expand their business in the tourism sector. The cultural appeal of the places and
geographical attractions also affects directly in creation of an appeal of the destinations in order
to know the psychology of the visitors. These factors can become that basis for the comparison
of the leading places among the countries.
Leading destinations- London
It is a major developed country which is situated at the west coast of European island and
a member of European union countries. In the tourism sector it has been considered as the best
and has a position in top 10 listed tourist destinations among the member countries. It has been
recognised that the UK has the largest revenue in the tourism sectors and its growth also depends
upon the increase in the number of tourists every year (Adora, 2010). Most of the places which
are famous in the countries are situated in London. There are various people in the country who
are depended upon the arrival of tourist in the country. It is an example of the best tourist
destinations in the overseas countries and preferred by the people because it has a comfortable
and positive atmosphere. Various market analyst has determined that more than 59000 tourist
have arrived in London and provided a revenue of about 12 billion dollar towards the economy
of UK. The infrastructure at the tourism places like roads, travel industry and other sectors are
providing better support to the destinations in London.
Developing destination- Delhi
It is a developing destination in the tourism industry which contributes large amount of
revenue towards the growth and development of the India. It includes also such destinations
which are popular among the people in the different countries like China, Russia etc. The
tourism sector of the India is developing continuously as there major steps have been taken by
the governments. It has also provided the excellent infrastructure facilities to the visitors and
covered a major expansion in the tourism sector (Blancas and et.al., 2010). In this context, a
comparison is between both destinations to understand the opportunities of Expansion for the
TUI group in these countries.

across the world. According to the government of UK, one of most important aspect of the
development of tourism in the country are the marketing campaigns done for the increment of
both domestic and international tourism. In comparison, India is also a developing nation which
has provided a growth to the tourism sector by following various marketing techniques. It is an
emerging economy around the world and it has achieved a growth in last few years. Analysis has
determined that the tourism sector has provided a large economic growth to the economy of
India. With relevance to this, as a business development analyst of the TUI group a comparison
of appeal of both the countries have been done to understand the opportunities for the
development of business in the tourism sector. It can be said that the comparison is necessary to
determine the growth of business and provide assistance to the marketing of tourism in the
country.

important for the achievement of growth. It can be said that these can be social or economical
mainly beneficial for the developing nation. The impact of implications on the economy of the
developing country can be positive or negative. Various discussions have done in respect to the
merits and demerits to the business environment of tourism sector in the country. Apart from all
the confusion it has been considered that it creates opportunities of people for the people in the
country. Sales promotion and publicity is a important factor which can impact the tourism sector
of the country positively or negatively. It has been considered that the crime rate in the country
also decide the flow of tourist in the country. The tourist destinations in the UK are considered as
safe as compared to the destinations of India (Jacobsen and Munar, 2012).
There will a positive or negative impact of the economic elements in the country UK
such as increase in inflation, increase in cost of infrastructure, adverse effect of exchange rates,
would decrease the investment of government in the marketing of tourism sector. There are
several threats like political instability, terrorist attacks and riots have a major impact on the

negative impact on the tourism in the country. Therefore, it has been considered that there are

4.1 Analysis of the issues that affect popularity of tourist destination
For the sustainable growth, As an executive assistant at the TUI group, management
report has been made to determine the issues that affect the popularity of tourist destinations.
 Climate: It is the most important element which affect the popularity of tourist
destinations. There various destinations where tourist want arrive in a particular climate
for example: The most of the tourists visit UK in the rainy season to enjoy the monsoon.
 Sustainability: It clearly defines the level of stability of the places or destination. For
example many analysts has determined UK is most sustainble in comparison with other
countries like North Korea, India etc.
 Natural disasters:It is also a major issue that affect the popularity of tourist destinations.
People will regret those places who are affected by the natural disasters and calamities
like earthquake.
 Environmental conditions: This factor covers the issues regarding clean healthy
environment at the destinations. Tourists arrive at the places which are more suitable and
consist healthy environment. For example countries like UK, Paris are known for their its
clean healthy environment (Morgan, Pritchard and Pride, 2011)
 Country's Image : It is also a factor which affect the tourism of the country. It has been
recognised that the country's goodwill is measured by its relationship with other
countries. For example: Countries like Germany, UK are disputes free countries and has a
positive relationship with other countries and the people will prefer to visit those
countries.
4.2 Potential for responsible tourism to enhance the host community at worldwide tourist
destination
TUI is Well known travel and tourism company known for the tourism services and has
large connections with tourist planners in different countries. It has been considered that the TUI
is well known tourism organisation in UK. The analysis has determined the group has its
activities linked with the travel sector enterprises which attract the tourists in the country. They
are responsible for the development of tourism in the country and will have an approach to attain

a sustainable growth in the tourism sector (Vanhove, 2011). They have provided various
opportunities of employment for the people and provided a financial growth. TUI has employed
a diversified workforce in the organisation which affects the level of unemployment. It operates
in the majority of the countries like UK, Germany etc. They are responsible for the maintaining a
sustainable relationship between the customers and provide better facilities to improve its
business.
In other countries various organisations operates in the tourism sector which deals better
growth and opportunity of the country. Responsible tourism promote the increase in the revenue
generation and building trust and mutual belief. The group is moving forward to develop various
packages to satisfy the customers and increase their travelling experience. There are many
organizations in UK that have an impact on the tour operators which affect their business and
provide restrictions on their business. TUI adopts a code of conducts with the principles and it is
accountable for the growth of 10% to the GDP of the economy and 6% to the exports
(Thompson, 2011). It also faces a challenge faces some environmental challenges like challenge
of carbon emission. Responsible tourism has a responsibility to protect the environment as with
it no one can regulate the business. TUI is continuously working to reduce this challenge by
using green energy and solar energy many departments. It also includes the safety, rights and
prosperity of the culture and social features of the country. Turkey and Cuba faces many riots
and terrorist attacks. Hence, by proper survey and analysis the group will be able to ensure safety
in the region.
CONCLUSION
From the above report It has been understood that there are various issues that affect the
tourism like infrastructure, popularity, climate, sustainability etc. It has been considered that
these factors will affect the revenue of the country. In this context, it is concluded that the UK is
leading in the tourism sector among the countries and providing better facilities. The comparison
between the countries has determined that the more growth opportunities are available for the
TUI group to expand its business in UK in comparison with India. Different appeal affects the
characteristics of tourists destinations such as climate, calamities, economic conditions etc.
evaluation of several factors of appeal has been considered in this context. At last, duty of
responsible tourism and significance of sustainable growth has been described in this report.
