The platforms of the Social media industry have captured the immense attention of
people across the globe. The industry has incorporated the creativity and innovations within
the paradigm of social media to develop the aspects of communication and connectivity
factors provided with reliable security and surveillance systems. From Facebook and
Whatsapp to Youtube and Wechat, the social media industry has centralized the diverse
culture, politics, citizenship, and communications of people globally. Whatsapp is one such
platform that helps people converge through public and personal communication. Jan Koum
and Brian Acton are the founders of WhatsApp Company. Recently, the company has joined
Facebook in the year 2014, but it proceeds to remain a separate app operated using a laser
focus that builds messages fast and ensures to work better anywhere in the world. The report
aims to deliver an in-depth analysis of the WhatsApp Company that includes two excelling
aspects and one aspect of criticism that the company faces.

WhatsApp is recognized as the leading service of instant multimedia messages in
cellular networks. To provide such remarkable service, WhatsApp incorporates extensive use

Though the company has generated remarkable improvements in user’s lives, yet they
still face certain social problems, which has become an aspect of criticism that the company
faces majorly. WhatsApp being used at an immense rate by the consumers; it faces an issue

of uploading and downloading multimedia instantly. It has become a widespread issue
revolving noticeably around the posting of videos, pictures or gifs and statuses of updates
news feeds as well. In addition, there are problems which concern the medium used for this
application (Fiadino, et al., 2015). For example, few people confirmed their PC application
and WhatsApp web to be working fine, but on the contrary, there were people who did not
find the seamless working of this application. Such problems reveal that there is no specific
pattern through which one can be assured whether the application has anything to do with the
device or is it a region-based problem. The uncertainty lies evidently in the application.
Moreover, the WhatsApp web version is entirely not convenient as it requires scanning of QR
code using one’s smartphone. The process points out to be too technical for novice users.
Therefore, the company faces criticisms regarding the clarity of WhatsApp usage.

From the above discussion, the report concludes that WhatsApp is the fastest-growing
platform in the social media industry provided with advanced infrastructure and tools. The
service of WhatsApp company has extended on a large scale primarily from passive
evaluations and measurements gathered at the core national-wide cellular network, ensuring
wide distribution of network worldwide. The paper discusses about the encryption model,
which has been identified as its first aspect. The model or the WhatsApp tool is incorporated
in all recent devices and has marked a promising feature to be trusted upon and keep the
personal messages secured. With the inclusion of the Signal Protocol, it facilitates
advantageously in the hosting infrastructure. The paper further discusses the monitoring
traffic factor in the network. Further, a critical factor is developed by recognizing it as a
major problem. The negative aspect is the unfriendly nature of WhatsApp web which has
been thoroughly identified among the users across the globe.
4. Recommendation
WhatsApp usage is increasing at an exponential rate, leading to immense businesses
in the social media industry. The company would face threats of new entrants eventually and
for that, the company needs to develop its cellular network and connectivity regionally. More
research and further innovations and steps should be brought in order to avoid complications
regarding overloaded volumes of WhatsApp flows and many other social security threats.
There should be an infrastructure model on censorship in the application through which the
contents and media files shared can be screened and evaluated, which would avoid illegal

actions using social media platforms. Certain tools should be implemented through which the
journalistic news can be checked whether the content and new are genuine. Furthermore,
there is an immense increase in the expansion of WhatsApp audience, it is, therefore,

order to gain insights into the efficiency level and the effectiveness of business developers,
consumers and practitioners.
