Analyzing the aspect of the "Counselor Krespel"
Counselor Krespel is referred to as the most strange and oddest man that Hoffman's story
depicts. This particular story involves the vast exploration of visual, technological and various
musical experiences to the themes present. For instance Counselor, Krespel evaluates musical
aspects such as the specified fascination and men being obsessed with the violin instrument and
women's magical voices when singing.
Krespel is a legal counselor by profession and an artist-scientist who buys music violin
instrument so as to separate them and then identify their innermost structure modification and
meaning. He is a creative genius whose dwellings comprise of significant technological
advancements that are highly modernized. He properly utilizes the materials left after designing
the violin in order to provide light in his house. He is seen as an amusing and violent man who
destroys various violins and also at once threw his wife out of the house's window.
Krespel is protective of his daughter as seen in various instances. After Antonia vocals are
destroyed due to her heart failure condition, Krespel forbids her from involving herself with
singing and also reinstates her form any personal contacts with men. In addition, his scientific
inventions and ideas start focusing more on the anatomic structure of the human body.
It is evident that his continuous scientific curiosity succeeds in dealing with the excessive worry
of hurting Antonia which contributes to his ability to disclose the secret behind her daughter's
magical voice and vocals. However, this particular step does not bore positive fruits as it
contributes to the death of Antonia in a quite mysteriously manner. It also marks the extinction
of his career to modify and make violin instruments.
