Appendices1.Overview1.1.Project TitlePurchasing and installing near-infrared light device1.2.Project BackgroundThe project of purchasing and installing the Peripheral intravenous cannulation (IVC)is developed for development of the treatment facilities for the patients and staffs inNew South Wales Hospital. The device is employed for treating over 70% of thechildren and the use of the device would allow the successful cannulation for thechildren that are admitted to the office. The first attempt of the cannulation hadbeen unsuccessful and the problems are age, cognitive, anatomical, andphysiological characteristics for the clinician and patient’s proficiency. The process ofcannulation is challenging as the patients have thin veins and the palpation of theveins are dependent on the tactile and visual senses. Hence the installation of thenear-infrared light device is helpful for the facilitation of the visualization of theveins. The device would help the successful cannulation of the patients in the firstattempt only.2.ScopeThe project has involved the acquisition and installation of the near-infrared lightdevice that would be helpful for the completion of the cannulation process for thepaedriatic ward of the New South Wales Hospital.
