AI Summary
This assignment explores the core concepts of Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). It delves into the five stages of the BPM lifecycle: design, modelling, execution, monitoring, and optimization. Furthermore, it provides a comprehensive summary of BPMN elements such as flow objects (events, activities, gateways), connection objects, swim lanes, and artifacts. The assignment emphasizes the importance of BPMN in representing business processes visually for improved understanding and analysis.

3APPLICATION OF PROCESS MINING
Introduction
Business process model and notification (BPMN) mainly provides the business with
the main capability of understanding the internal business procedures in a graphical notation.
Furthermost the graphical representation would help more in the understanding of the process
which is related to the implementation (Muthusamy, Vinod, et al 2016).
BPM lifecycle
There are mainly five stages that can be applied to the concept of the BPMN they are:
Design phase: This phase mainly includes the design of the concept taking into
consideration the overall working and the aim of the system
Modelling phase: Design phase is followed by the modelling phase. This phase mainly
includes the overall internal working of the system.
Execution phase: This phase includes the execution of the process.
Monitoring phase: This refers to the monitoring of the working of the process in order to
achieve the desired result which is expected from the implementation.
Optimization phase: This mainly include the concept of optimization which mainly
include increasing the standard of the working of the process and the utilization of the
resources. (van der Aalst, Wil MP 2016).
The BPMN 2.0 is considered to be a business process model. The BPMN
specification mainly describes.
How the elements in the process diagram have to look like (notation)?
How the different elements can be combined with each other (meta model / syntax)?
What a diagram exactly means (semantics) and
How the diagram is mainly transferred from one tool to another tool (XML interchange
format) (Kalenkova et al. 2016).

BPMN elements summary
1. Flow objects:
Events: The events are mainly classified in three types namely start event,
intermediate event and end event.
Activity: The activity is mainly divided into two parts namely task and sub processes.
Gateway: There are mainly five types of gateway. They are exclusive gateway,
parallel gateway, inclusive gateway, inclusive gateway, gateway which is based on
event and complex gateway.
2. Connection object: There are mainly three types of connection gateway. They are
sequence lines, association and message line.
3. Swim lanes: These elements are usually used to organize flow activity they mainly
include pools and lanes.
4. Artifacts: They are used to provide additional information relating to the process. they are
mainly three types they are Data objects, annotations and groups (van der Aalst 2016).
Conclusion
The conversion of the text to BPMN is usually implemented in order to focus on a
diagrammatical representation of the data. This mainly helps in the understanding of the
process and the flow of the data within the infrastructure of the conversion.
