INTRODUCTIONManagement is the activity of dealing with or controlling things or people. Operation is the areaof management which is associated with the process of controlling and designing the process ofproduction and manufacturing in the organization. Operations and management ensures that theoperations carried out in an organization makes use of resources efficiently and effectively.Operations produce products, manage quality and creates service. Present study will layemphasis on Google. It is the American multinational company that deals in services which isinternet related. The services provided by them is online advertising, search engine, cloudcomputing software and hardware (Shimojo and et.al., 2015). Report will provide the differencesbetween role of leader and managers. It will also focus on the role of leader and manager indifferent situational context. Study focuses on the different approaches of operationsmanagement. It will also provide the importance of operations management in businessTASK 1P1. Different roles and characteristics of leaders and managers Leader- A leader is a person who is engaged in the activity of influencing and motivatingpeople. This individual holds a superior position in the organization.. They are also seen as theidol by their followers. Leaders in Google are the person who provide support to the otheremployees. They assist other employees and their team members in improving their performanceby providing them constant motivation. Leaders make use of open communication so that theycan easily understand the needs and demands of team members in the firm. Google have themost fascinating leaders because of which the rate of turnover in company is very low. Managers- A manager in a company can be defined as a person who is involved inmanaging various activities in the organization. The activities can include handling of humanresources, promoting the products and services of firm can also act as a negotiator (Alharbi andRaahemifar, 2015). Google is involved in hiring those managers who are responsible foroverseeing a department or a group of employees.. Managers of Google are engaged in providingtraining to workers and employees so that they can enhance their skills which can help them inoutshining their career. This also supports organization in retaining the workers and attractingnew and efficient employees. Managers are also involved in monitoring and controlling theexpenses and budgets. They provide motivation to workers and employees by giving themmonetary and non-monetary incentives. This assists Google in reducing employee turnover.3

Managers of the company are also engaged in solving the problems which lies betweenemployees or management of the firm. They make better relationship through opencommunication. BasisLeadersManagersHonesty andIntegration Leaders have the characteristicof performing all the task withhonesty and integrity. Leaders inGoogle have the strong moralprinciples which are fully basedon honesty. This characteristicmakes them different from themanagers. Employees remainsloyal with the firm, if theirleaders are honest andsupportive (Hussain and et.al.,2018). Managers have the characteristicof accountability. They areaccountable to provide the task toall the workers working underthem. Managers may or may notperform with honesty as they canthink about their personalbenefits. Time managementLeaders of Google have thecharacteristic of managing allthe work on timely basis. Theyalso motivate their teammembers to finish the work ontime. For this the leaders areinvolved in providing thetraining to manage the time.They motivate them to prioritisethe tasks. Managers have the characteristicthat they have full knowledge ofthe department in which they aredealing (Marzband and et.al,2016). They may not have aneffective time management. Managing peopleLeaders in Google have the roleof motivating and inspiringpeople to perform better. Thissupports the organization inincreasing the productivity andprofitability for them. Manager's basic role is to managethe employees working in theorganization. They manageworkers by proper planning andorganizing. Proper managementof employees supports in better4
