This project proposal is based on the idea of connecting art enthusiast or the art consumers with the artist worldwide. The name given to the website is “Art Connects Network”. The primary idea of the website is to commence online exhibition and selling of the contemporary arts from around the globe. The website also aims to provide nation-wide and also international exhibitions and art fairs. In this proposal, the requirements to build the website is also provided.

Introduction
This project proposal is based on the idea of connecting art enthusiast or the art
consumers with the artist worldwide. With the improvement of internet and technology building
websites and reaching to people has become so much easier. My research is based on the impact
of arts and artists on the society and also the impact of lifestyle, psychology and creativity on the
people in the society. During this research I received many participants who were willing to
provide their views on my concept of building the website. The name given to the website is “Art
Connects Network”. My main aim is to provide a platform for the artist and the art consumers a
platform that can be used by everyone around the world. The questions in the survey were well
constructed and the reply to them were also captured well. In this research proposal, a brief
explanation of all the question are mentioned and in addition, I have visited a few websites that
share the same idea. I have taken some references from those websites. All the websites are listed
in this report with a brief analysis for every website.
The primary idea of the website came to me when a person said to me that he never
understood the concept of modern contemporary art. He wished to reach out to the artist and
collect more information about the piece of art to understand the concept of the art very
precisely. The main goals of creating this website are to commence online exhibition and selling
of the contemporary arts from around the globe. These include the oil paintings, acrylic paintings
and mixed media painting and drawing which covers a wide range of themes. The words also
includes sculptures, ceramic, photography and various print media. This website will provide a
section where many local and well established lectures from different artists will be featured.
The selling section of the art works will be open to all to select their favourite art work and buy

them. The website also aims to provide nation-wide and also international exhibitions and art
fairs. In this proposal, the requirements to build the website is also provided.
Discussion
Questionaries
The following questions were asked during the survey:
1. How important do you think arts is in our society?
2. Why do you think the consumers need to meet the artists?
3. How art influences people in day to day life?
4. What is the impact of arts on the art lovers and also the artists?
5. Which is the most influencing website that you have come across that involves
the same idea?
6. Is there any suggestions that you would like to make?
7. Is there any other features that you would like to see on my website?
8. What are the art forms we can cover to gain more attention?
9. Should we include premium services for art purchase or should it be free?
10. How can we make our website an interacting platform for budding artists?
All the questions that are mentioned above were asked to each participant. I attended
many art exhibitions around my locality and also interacted with many people to gather
information for my website. A brief description of the interviews of the interactions are provided.
Outcomes of the research
I stared the survey by visiting a person near my locality, Mr Steve Jones, who is an art
enthusiast and I am very grateful to him to provide me his precious time. He has collected many

art works from the nearby art galleries. He has also attended many art fairs and has a lot of
knowledge about arts.
The first question that he was asked was what are his view about the importance art is to
the society, to this his reply was very amazing. The stated that “Art is very important according
to me and I believes that art can reflect the side of a people and the artist, particularly what the
artist is thinking while creating the art work. I think every art is beautiful in its own way.”
The second question to him was why it is important to meet the artists in person, to this
his reply was “The influence an artist can create through his arts works is immense and to
understand the perspective of the work it is important to interact with the artist. There are many
ways an art work can be depicted but the perspective of the artist is very important because he is
the creator if the work.”
In the next question he was asked about the influence of art in his life. The reply from his
side was “After the death of my mother at a very young age I started feeling depressed and
painting gave me another chance to recreate my mind. I started painting and it kept me engaged
and uplifted my thinking process. So, I guess art plays an important role in my life.”
To the next question which was what are his views on the impact of art on the artists and
art lovers. He stated that, “As I mentioned earlier art is very influential in my life and as an art
lover and artist myself I can say that every piece of art is created with utmost important by an
artist. The art lovers around the world try for every possible medium to connect to the artists so
that they can know the artist better. The art lovers always admire the artist and many have stated
that it feels like falling in love with the piece of art as well as the artist.”

In the fifth question, he was asked about if he know any website that helps to connect art
loves and artist and if he can mention some websites. His response to this was, “Yes, there are
several websites that provide information about artworks from different parts of the world.
Artdaily.org is worth mentioning here, it is known to be the first art newspaper that was started
over the internet. This website provides daily news about the several art works and the
information about the artists from around the globe. One recently started website known as
artsy.net is also a very interactive platform that provides the option to purchase the arts works. It
also includes a project known as ‘the art genome project’, which collects views of different
artists on a particular art work and connect them according to the characteristics which they
named as ‘genes’. There are several other websites that provides an interactive interface like the
3dvas.com and googleartproject.com that provide many information about the artists and the art
works.”
For the next question, he was asked for some suggestions for the website that I was
creating. In the responses he said, “Providing a 3D interactive interface like the 3dvas.com, for
the users with all the functionality of googleartproject.com would be very helpful for the art
lovers and would draw more attention in the market.”
In the very next question he was asked if he wants to see some other features on the
website that I was about to create, that would influence more people to use my website. The
answer to that was, “You can include a chat bot or some chat service through which the users of
the website will be able to connect with the artists and interact with them directly. This can also
help the art lovers to understand the art work precisely from the perspective of the artist.
Creating a huge database is also important. You should be able to produce a lot of information on
your website.”

Following to that some recommendations of art forms to uplift the traffic of the website
was also asked to him. With his great amount of knowledge he said, “Every art form is important
you cannot specifically tell this art form is better than some other art form. But yes, I can tell you
my views or the art forms that I like the most. These may include oil paintings, some
photographs, charcoal sketches, and also recently I have seen many graffiti arts on the internet
which reflect huge characteristics and the personality about the artist, which I like very much. In
fact, recently I have also connected with an artist on the Facebook platform.”
When I reached to the second last question I was willing to ask him a few more
questions. The question he was asked after this was what are his view on the premium services
for selling and interacting with an artist or should it be free. He shared a very important point
here stating that, “Art is free for everyone. If a user is coming to your website and planning to
buy an art work then the artist should be benefitted from that and yes obviously it is up to you if
you want to include a premium service for your website or not. According to me, if there is a
premium service the cost for that should be minimal so that art lovers can take that service and
connect to their favourite artist. It depends on you how you want to implement your website and
want services do you want to include.”
In the very last question he was asked to provide me some suggestion on how to
influence new artists to join the website community. To this response he mentioned that, “I
personally would be very pleased if I can join your website community as an artist and would
like to see a free account for the artists with some plan to pay the artists for sharing their views
and their lectures on the website. This would bring in more new artists to your website.”
With the last question I moved to Mrs Rosie Lamar who is a widow of an army officer
and visits many art galleries in our locality. She was very kind and helpful in this research work

providing some precious information. The same set of questions were also asked to her also. She
is known to be a very big art enthusiast and known for funding many art fairs in our locality.
In the first question the she was asked about the influence of arts in our society, to this
her reply was, “Art is a very powerful way for anyone to express their view in a unique way.
Every person living on this earth has love for some form of art and which makes them happy
some choose music, some proceed with painting and drawings. But, in every way art influences
people. The power and emotion that an art delivers can impact many people.”
To the next question, her response was, “The actual pleasure of art comes from the
experience of observing the art work. Different people have different view for one piece of art. It
depends on the eyes of the viewer. The joy an art delivers come in the moment of observing the
piece of art. Understanding the perspective of the artist is important because they are the creators
of the art. Thus, communication is important between the art lovers and the artists.”
To the very next question, her reply was, “Art an influence people in any ways. The artist
can also influence people to create their own piece of art. Arts can influence people to donate
money for a good cause, for an instance during the last hurricane attack in our state, many local
artists organized an exhibition of their work to raise funds for the people who are in distress.
Inspiration comes along with art and sculptures. We can take a look at many sculptures and art
works and it will surely influence you or intrigue you to think a little more. My husband also
liked arts very much and this is one of the reasons why I invest in arts, apart from my own
personal interest.
In the next question, she answered that, “As I mentioned in the previous answer, art
connects people in many ways. Artists’ influences art loves. My greatest inspiration was when

my husband took me to the art gallery and I found a piece of art that reflected two lovers along
the bank of a river. It was mesmerising and I immediately contacted the artist to buy the piece.”
In the next question, she mentioned artsy.net and googleartprojects.com as the most
influential websites. After that she mentioned that the website I am creating should be very
responsive for every platform and specifically for the mobile users, because now everyone has
access to smartphones and internet thus, they will try to access the website from hand held
devices only. She also recommended adding some chat service like Mr Jones did. This will help
the art lovers to connect with the artists very fast and effectively. She also mentioned of
including blog so that the visitors can have a quick look at the information and the collaboration
of the website.
When asked about a specific art form she also shared the same view as Mr Jones stating
that, “Art has no rules and every art form is important and special in their own ways.”
For the next two question her response was, “It depends on you how you want to deliver
your website to the common people and to my view it should be a free service. But if you are
charging some amount then the artists must be beneficial from that. There are no as such
suggestion from my end but make sure your website is very responsive because nobody likes to
wait.”
To conduct field research in order to gather primary data related to my topic, I went to an
art exhibition, which took place in my locality. While, I was roaming around the place I met Mr.
Simon Jones, whom is a scholar studying about various art periods and effect of art in European
society. The first question, which I asked him, was the importance of art in our society, to which
he replied, “Constant changes occurring in day to day life of an individual has a direct impact on

his life and influence of art is evident in every sphere of our life. Art liberates individuals and
subsequent periods of history, their rituals and customs can be found through art”. There were
other direct inclinations of social changes occurring through art in his representation. For my
second question regarding consumers need to meet an artist, he said that, in order to understand
an artist’s approach towards an art form or visuals used to illustrate some occurrence is directly
related with real life experiences artists face, and has an impact on his works. Understanding the
reason behind sketching or portrayal needs a face-to-face interactive session to help understand
an individual’s approach. Impact of art on day to day life is evident from his perspective, he
said,” art is not just an imagination of an artist, it is directly related to the social, political
occurrence, in different parts of the world as well as certain art forms are used to depict societies
and individuals approach in shaping a person’s character. The fourth question about impact of art
on art lovers and artists was stated with a single statement, he said, “for us to thrive in this world,
escape from reality is a necessity, art provides us with that, both for the enthusiasts as well as the
artist.” The most influential website, which Simon came across, was an initiative by Google for
promoting art and culture from various spheres of the globe. For my sixth question regarding
suggestions, he simply stated, “art is an individual’s own interpretation of various natural as well
as real scenarios, more people should be encouraged to study art”. The seventh question
regarding features, he stated, “It would be easier for people to get acquainted if there are
descriptions as well as origin story related to every form of art showcased in the website”. The
eighth question regarding what art forms should be kept in the website, he replied that art is
universal, it would be important to carry out detailing instead of emphasising on different art
forms; he favours multicultural representations. For my next to last question he replied,” there
should be no limitations in appreciating art, however for you to generate some revenue, purchase

of various art works could be adopted and implemented to your website”. My last question
regarding, how to make the website more interactive for budding artists, he stated, “keep a
provision for artists from various spheres to connect to one another and discuss regarding various
works done by them, this will increase their potential as well as help in creation of mixed art
forms, which are more preferable to the audience.”
While I was having this questionnaire session with Simon, another person walking by
was interested, and on asking him whether I can ask him some questions related to art, he said he
is Johan Blaze, one of the artists whose art was being showcased in the gallery. I started asking
him after introducing myself. For my first question, he said, “the importance of things related to
art is subjective and influence of art in society has occurred since there was a development of
conscience amongst individual to praise art.” His response for the second question, he stated that
an artist is always looking for changes, which he or she can implement in their art form, on
having sessions with consumers, make artists realise changes they need to make for generating
mass appeal for various art forms. This in turn would raise individuals gain interest in art, which
is a necessity for the modern world and adversities people face in their daily life. For my fourth
question Johan said, “I have been meeting with people to make them realise the importance of
various art forms and knowledge we can derive from various styles of art and reason behind their
creation.” Johan answered my fifth question in a different approach, he said, “There are
innumerable websites I have hoisted my works on, and praised by individuals from various parts
of the globe, however 3d vas has an interactive virtual tour, which I like personally”. The sixth
question on suggestions, he informed me regarding implication of interactive features like
zooming in pictures, to look in details sitting in a room, which is interesting as well as helpful for
art enthusiasts to look for arts they are looking for. For my seventh question he said, “You

should make it as simple as possible, people visit art websites to escape from daily nuances of
life, it would be better to keep it as simple as possible but interactive and user friendly at the
same time.” The eighth question, which stated use of art forms, Johan said, “Various indigenous
art forms are left out, and famous websites consider using art forms that has a mass appeal, but it
is also important to promote art forms which originated in some part of the globe, but left
unattended by art website creators”. On asking my ninth question, Johan said, “art is a liberation,
free form complexities of economic exchange, but it would be better if artists could have specific
arts, which are only accessible using premium services, if people can subscribe to movie hoisting
sites, they can subscribe for art forms also”. For my last question, Johan said, “You should keep
live assistance, if possible for people to directly interact with different artists, to help enthusiasts
know more about why the art was made, why a specific art form was used to convey the artist’s
idea.” This helped a lot in understanding the viewpoint of respective art enthusiasts and artist’s
preferences and their subsequent response for my website and necessary implementations
required to be made for making a successful artworks gallery online.
Recently, I had made a visit to the National Gallery of Art located at Constitution Avenue
in New York. While going around the gallery, that one painting which grabbed my attention was
of a person named John Wick. Since, it was special exhibition for only invited people, I was
provided with an opportunity to have a face to face interaction with this person since for a long
time I was cooking up an idea inside my head to have an online portal for all the artists and the
art lovers. Having met this person I had presented a series of questions to him. My first question
was- “How important do you think arts is in our society?” to which he replied that Art forms the
basic pillar of expression within the society. Art can be implemented to scream out facts which
are verbally impossible or difficult. The second question was- “Why do you think the consumers

need to meet the artists?” The answer was that meeting the artists can lead to a better and proper
understanding for the spectators who just don’t want to appreciate the art, but to know more
about it. The third question was-“How art influences people in day to day life?” to which he
replied that Art is a form of expression which can bring out a person from periods of anxiety or
sadness, so it is very important. The fourth goes like- “What is the impact of arts on the art lovers
and also the artists?”, and the reply was that art impacts a lot upon the artists as a motivation to
do art, while the art lovers gain more coverage in this field. The next question of mine
was-“Which is the most influencing website that you have come across that involves the same
idea?”. The answer was in my favour since, John so far did not come across such a platform
which motivated me a lot more. Having asked him, “Is there any suggestions that you would like
to make?” and he suggested me that while doing such a noble work, I should always keep Art
apart from the business, and not make art a purpose of business. The next question was- “Is there
any other features that you would like to see on my website?” and he made an amazing
suggestion of allowing direct conversations of the artists with that of the Art lovers having a
wider exposure to this field. He suggested the Art forms dealing with the social causes to place
under a separate section on the website to the question “What are the art forms we cover in our
website to gain more attention?” I had asked the question that “Should we include premium
services for art purchase or should it be free? To which he replied that it might be important for
the very renowned artists as they are well renowned among the common people. The last
question was that, “How can we make our website an interactive platform for budding artists?”
to which he answered that we should put up exhibitions and art competitions as well as having a
different section for the Artwork of the month to highlight the upcoming artists.

Another visit to Smithsonian American Art Museum which is again located in New York made
me come across another artists who mostly works upon the darker side of the art form named,
Deckard Shaw. On presenting my desire to have the portal he agreed onto give me an interview
with the same set of questions. As a response to the first question he said that Art is important
just as the air we breathe in, since it forms the basic pillar of expressions between two people
nonverbal. He added that in order to be more motivated to produce more art, the artists need to
meet the spectators and get appreciations as an answer to the second question. As the fourth
question was asked, Shaw gave a quick smile and followed with his answer saying that it is only
Art which has the majority of influence within the lives of the people rather than any other
existence in this nature and the surroundings. As the answer to the fifth question he said that,
there is an existence of a website which is commonly known as singulart.com which serves the
same functions but even said the lacks which is present on the website. He followed his answer
of the fifth question with the answer of his sixth question, with few suggestions as to focus upon
the art which is slowly getting extinguished from our society due to some of the modern art
forms which are getting introduced into the society. To the seventh question he made the same
suggestion as of John where he mentioned the addition of the chat feature of the art lovers
directly to the Artists to have a deeper understanding and interest within the field of Art and to
make way for potential artists as well. My eight question was answered in a detailed way by
Shaw, as he made suggestions to include every single form of art on the website placed on
segregated sections since the website will be visited by artists from all around the globe having
different interests hence, a person visiting the website should not be disappointed. My ninth
question was aimed at having a personal opinion from an artists who does art for every section of
the society, where he mentioned that the art which is there up on the website should be properly

grouped under the sections of ‘free’ and ‘premium’, aimed at gaining customer attraction from
every section of the society who love art as well as spectate art for decoration purposed back at
their home. He made a specific answer to my last question in which he mentioned that, an online
platform would be better to nurture the talent since, there exist upcoming artists who only do art
but do not showcase it, again that they can have a look at the other artists and their work and gain
the courage to entertain a proper exposure.

the idea I am manifesting within my mind, I have taken into consideration Artsy.net and
artdaily.org. I have done a deep analysis of the design, the special features and other properties
of these two websites, did a proper comparison and presented this down the report.

make it a standalone among the other existing competitors present in the market trying to make it

Requirements for the website
The process of making the website is done keeping many factors in mind. The website
should be optimized for hand held devices because, the increase of technology has also increased
the use of hand held devices. The website will be optimized for using in the mobile devices. The
design of the website is kept simple but appealing to the users. The website was also be tested on
many browsers to test the responsiveness. The following tools were used to design and
implement the idea of the website in the physical world:
Html5, Css3, JavaScript, php, MySQL, xampp as the local server, Visual studio code, sublime
text as the text editor and lastly chrome developer kit.
