Priming Adult Learners for Learning Transfer: Beyond Content and Delivery” by
Elizabeth Anne Roumell talks about three crucial factors which helps in transferring mindful
learning at every step and level which is highly important while providing adult education.
According to the article, despite of highly skilled instructional designers, learning theories
and experts for structuring delivering content and learning events, there is a huge percentage
of this adult learning which does not get transferred successfully (Roumell, 2019). Thus, in
order to ensure that adult learning is transferred effectively and successfully, it is important to
support transfer at various levels like instructional, individual and organizational. I highly
agree to what the author tries to convey in this article as I believe that conventional and
traditional education practices just provide knowledge rather than imparting the knowledge
successfully which they can apply in the real world situations. According to scholar, the role
of the educators is more than just mere delivering and designing content but it is also the
responsibility of the educators to encourage meaningful interactions and help in the
development of the transfer skills (Cox, 2015).
According to this article, adult learning can be possible if mindful transfer is applied
as it is the process of the continuous ongoing strategies in order to help the learners to apply
new information and knowledge which is acquired and actively apply that knowledge which
is beyond the learning events which will further help in developing active competencies. I
feel that this is one factor which will have a direct and a positive impact on knowledge
retention. In traditional and conventional learning setting, the main aim and emphasis is put
on designing learning content and delivering those learning contents which only makes the
learners to come to know about a theory or a concept however, they do not get to understand
the details and the depth of the knowledge which restricts the learners from developing any
efficient skills and competencies. Molinari, Freshman & Tan, (2015) states integrated
learning assessment and mindful learning has been gaining importance as it encourages
