Introduction
In this study, the concept of leadership style will be discussed and for better understanding, two
journal papers related to the research topic will be reviewed. The title of the first paper is
"Reviewing Leadership Styles: Overlaps and the Need for a New ‘Full-Range’ Theory” and
other is “The Styles of Leadership: A Critical Review”. Moreover, comparison sections will be
included in order to compare the results and findings of both selected papers.
Review of Article 1
The title of the paper is "Reviewing Leadership Styles: Overlaps and the Need for a New Full-
Range” that was written by Marc and Peter in the year 2017 and it is based on the chosen topic of
the research. In this paper, the authors critically reviewed the key concepts behind leadership
styles and different types of theories used in the leadership (Anderson, and Sun, 2017). The aim
of this paper is to elaborate on different types of leadership styles used in the organizations and
their importance in managing problems in the workplace. According to the researchers,
leadership style positively impacts on the organizational performance and also helps employees
to control and manage their behavior in the workplace. In order to understand the importance of
leadership style, the researchers conducted a literature review that helped them for obtaining
reliable information about the research topic.
In this research paper, the authors reviewed various kinds of leadership styles, for example,
authentic leadership, pragmatic, ethical, ideological and so on. According to the authors, the
dominant conceptualization of the leadership style in the organization is the charismatic style
that provides a platform for controlling and managing the performance of employees in an
effective manner. The first model of charismatic leadership is developed in year 1970 and it is
mainly characterized by leaders who articulate an inspirational vision of a future generation in
the companies. The researchers argued that charismatic leaders are generally self-confidence and
self-motivated towards their roles and responsibilities. In this research paper, the authors
provided complete information about the leadership style and also highlighted their significance
in the organizations. From previous studies, it has found that transformational leadership can be
