INTRODUCTION Sport in a youth prison: male young offenders’ experiences of a sporting intervention. This article has been chosen for reviewing, because articles includes different information to describe the value of sports and games in the society. Knowing the effectiveness of sports in a youth prison’s daily live is the main reason behind choosing this article. In this modern and dynamic world, people can’t imagine their lives without sports and games, because sports always give inspiration as well as motivation for living own life with full enthusiasm (Okada and Kashu, 2020). In existing stressful life, sports give opportunity to people for being some happy and healthy, and this is the main reason that currently governments within most countries highly promotes sports and games in market place. Sports comes under the rights of humans as well in many countries, and that’s why prisoners also have full right to use sports in their daily lives for living with full enthusiasm. This essay discusses sports in a youth prison. Basically, how sports and games affect to daily lives of young offenders in prison, this factor has been discussed in this essay. There are male young offenders’ experiences of a sporting intervention also has been covered in this essay. MAIN BODY A) Identification of the key arguments of the selected article This article is generally based on the impact on sports on the people, especially on young offenders. Currently, sports and games are main ways for different people in this era for being healthy and happy. Sports inspires people for working in the welfare of society. According to the article, currently governments of many countries has formulated different laws, regulations and standards relating to sports, in which they have given right of sports to prisoners as well. Each person has right to play sports in their daily lives (Ekholm, 2017). According to different psychologists, there are sports positively impact to the perception, motivation and mindset of young offenders in prisons. This is the main reason that, currently the management of most prisons within the United Kingdom enable to young prisoners for playing sports in the campus of prison. Youth crimes are increasing day by day in the society, in which sports and games enable to government of country for reducing the levels of youth crime in their authorisation zone.
That’s why ministry of sports and games within different countries are very active and aggressive to motivate youth for highly considering sports in their daily lives. Well-developed nations currently consider sports as a way to maintain peace in the society. B) Development of the key arguments of article with evidence Youth crime is really a serious issue in across the world, and that’s why government within many countries are focusing on finding some appropriate ways to reduce this youth crime, because youth always responsible for the bright future of a nation. Due to these all factors, government of the United Kingdom has tries to conduct such activities in market place which can positively change the mindset and motivation of youth. In these all activities, the government influence youth to play their favourite sports also in their daily lives (Lee, 2020). Basically, sports enable to youth for not conducting such activities in their daily lives which can promote uncertainty in the happy and healthy environment of society. Currently there are many factors exists in the market place which can affect to a person or young man in both ways, negatively and positively. In this situation, sports enable to a person to stay away from such factors of market place which can negatively affect to their lives. The young stage of life to a person is very critical stage for people, in which each person has to be very careful in this young stage of its life (Schull and Kihl, 2019). Many people consider young stage is learning age, and parents of a young man have to give a proper path of living happy and progressive life., because it is totally depending on the right track. In this situation, sports show a very effective and right track to people in their young stage of life, and this is the main reason that sport is very essential to young, no matters young currently is an offender of a prison. C) Providing counter arguments with justification After the cold war, the value of sports was highly increased in each country, because many nations were sent their sports men and women in other nations for building an effective peach among nations. In this modern era, the value of sports not has been decreased. In the 50’s and 60’s, governments of different nations were used sports as the method of spreading peace in the society, and this is the main reason that, currently sports can be used for reducing youth crime as well (Kurtipek and Sönmezoğlu, 2018). Currently government of the United Kingdom and existing sports ministry runs different campaigns in schools, colleges and universities for encouraging youth for highly using sports in their daily lives. Then, government tries to encourage youth for playing their favourite game or sport once in day in regular busy schedule to avoid different negative thoughts from their live. D) Using evidence from own independent reading and exploring an inter-relationship According to the article, there are many issues exists in the society which can badly affect to a young people. Many issues influence to young generation for conducting such activities which are completely against the ethics and moral values. Crime rates within many places increasing day to day, and this is not good things. In many crime scenes, anyone can see the involvement of young people as well, and this is the irony that, in the young stage of life people takes steps towards learning new things, but currently many young people are conducting unethical and crime practices in the workplace (Jacobs, Smits and Knoppers, 2017). These all issues of the society are completely interrelating with each other. There are socio-cultural and economic issues, like; social inequality, social exclusion/inclusion and deprivation/poverty etc. also highly affects to young people or youth for conducting crime practices in the society. In this situation, sports can play a very effective role to a nation for showing a positive as well as productive track to existing young generation. Basically, sports enable to the government of a country to spread peace in the society by removing different issues and challenges. Of course, these all issues are completely interrelating with each other, but sports can simply reduce in the crime rate of a nation as well. There are young generation is very big capital to a country, in which existing government of that country have to remove different social-cultural and economic issues from the workplace, because this step of government will positively affect to young generation in market place. E) Balancing the arguments with the counter arguments Make balance between arguments with the counter arguments is very necessary to ensure the effectiveness of sports in improve lifestyle and moral values of young offenders in different
prisons. Currently one nation has used sports for maintaining an effective relationship with other nation, so this factor is completely true that, sports and games are very helpful methods for increasing the levels of peace in the society. Day to day competition in market place is increasing, in which young generation have to be very active and energetic. In this situation, young people have to adopt sports in their daily lives, and after few months they will definitely see the positive changes in their daily lives (Medadi Nansa and Ghafouri, 2019). Currently many young people within the United Kingdom live in different prisons, because they have conducted different unethical attempts in their daily lives, so they also need to participate in different sports activities, because sports can change their perceptions and motivations. Many times, male young offenders require some specific path and ways to be positively changed, in which there are sports is the best way to them for be being changes, and also be motivated to conduct only ethical activities in their daily lives. F) Discussion of the methodology that the author has used in her/his research In the existing article of “sport in a youth prison”, there are many information about sports and its impact on young prisoner has been included by the researcher. In short, this article is the perfect module for showing effectiveness of sports in the society. According to this article, government of a country can positively impact on its young generation’s perception, mindset and mentality. In this situation, author of this article has putted its huge efforts in order to collect these all information and date relating to sports and young prisoners. According to the current information and data of report, author has been used qualitative research method, because this research methodology enables to all researchers for collecting data by observation, interview, meetings and many other types of resources (Berdychevsky, Stodolska and Shinew, 2019). Basically, this method includes two types of techniques of data and information collection, named; primary research and secondary research, in which primary technique has enabled to gain data by observation, interview, meetings. On the other side, secondary technique has enabled to author for gaining data and information from books & journals, newspaper articles, sports magazines, internet blogs and informative videos are main sources. G) Outlining the advantages/disadvantages of the methodology employed Author of this article has used the qualitative research method within its workplace, and this method gives very better outcomes to different users (Porro, Martelli and Testa, 2020).
However, method has some advantage and disadvantages, in which both advantages and disadvantages of qualitative method has been mentioned below; Advantages Qualitative research is very helpful method in providing deep, depth and detailed information to different researchers and authors in market place. On the other side, it creates openness for a researcher which enables to them for encouraging people for expanding on their responses. Disadvantages Qualitative method of research is not able to represent statistical form of data collection. This method generally relied upon experience of different researcher. Method many times requires multiple sessions, so this is also a key disadvantage. H) The methodology is suitable to the research question Qualitative method, which was used by author for collecting data in this article is very effective as well as productive. Basically, this method is completely suitable for the research question. When author of article was decided to write the article on the topic of “sport in a youth prison: male young offenders’ experiences of a sporting intervention”, then it has directly chosen this qualitative method, because it was prepared only research questions which can be found by observation, meetings, interviews and other secondary sources (Atkinson, 2019). Basically, primary and secondary techniques under qualitive research was enough to author for answering its research questions. CONCLUSION On the basis of above findings, it can be concluded that, no one can imagine the human civilisation without sports, because sports and games show specific ways and paths to people for improving their daily lives. Sports enable to people for being very energetic and active. It enables people for increasing their levels of intelligence as well. It can be also concluded that, author has used qualitive method of research for collecting data to complete this article. On other side, this method was enough to answer research questions of author.
