The article set out to explore the emergence of Asian multinational companies and their survival in the
competitive business environment. The article also has stated about how the emerging MNCs in Asia have
contributed to the management of foreign direct investments as well as globally influenced the growth in
economy of the nation as well. The article would also explore the various issues and problems that have
been faced by the MNCs as well as analyse the differences in motivation and behaviours along with
patterns of ownership of the MNCs and institutional infrastructures too (Kim and Park 2015).

Not only does the article resents about the ways by which, the MNCs have entered the emerging markets,
but also has demonstrated about the outward foreign direct investments to be managed. The article also
has provided a comparison between the emerging MNCs in Asia with the traditional developed country
MNCs in the current wave of globalisation. The concept of economic globalisation has also been
mentioned here, which represents the prevention of barriers for cross border low of goods and services.
The central concepts represents that before the globalisation period, the growth of market was based on the
need for FDI of intra-Triad kind, mainly focused on contractual agreements and joint venture while after
the globalisation, the businesses experienced larger expansion through various modes of FDI, both vertical
and horizontal (Zhang and Luo 2016). While before the globalisation period, the resources were limited and
poor market reach, after the globalisation, with large expansion, there have been acqusitions of more
resource, both financial and human resources.

Based on the analysis of the data and information from the article, it could be understood that the Asian
countries have different set of FDI objectives and thus in Singapore, the DFDI has been related to the
greater accessibility to different market segments along with lower costs of labour management. On the
other countries such as in Republic of Korea, the labour costs are high while in India, the FDI ensures
access to new market and escape from the restrictions and laws imposed by the Government, which often
might hinder foreign direct investments and trade relations. Based on the arguments of the author, it has
also been found that the Government has also supported the emergence of MNCs and foreign direct
investments, which has been considered as essential for achieving the strategic national objectives and
even enhance the level of competitiveness within the concerned industries (Williams and Lee 2016). With
the foreign direct investments, the joint ventures and ownership advantages have also been experienced,
which helped in the acqusitions of knowledge and information along with gaining relevant resources and
skills required to fulfil he needs of consumers largely.
