2ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
I. Introduction
Artificial Intelligence is one form of digital device or a computer-controlled robot that
imitates the intelligent human behaviour. AI facilitates advanced decision making. The
technologists and the engineers conduct research and design systems so that the devices can
act intelligently (Nilsson, 2014). The companies by adopting AI can get the competitive edge,
can enhance their business activities. The companies can earn huge profit due to AI. The
report illustrates that AI can prove to be a threat to the employees. The employees can lose a
job. The humanity should be given priority, and AI must be used in such a way so that the AI
or AI-based devices do not overpower humans.
The report elaborates all the aspects of AI. Recommendations following which the
companies can use AI effectively.
II. Background Information
A. Artificial intelligence Definition and Types
Artificial Intelligence is a computer-controlled robot or a digital device that is capable
of imitating intelligent human behaviour (Spiro, Bruce & Brewer, 2017). The AI device
comes with several functionalities like visual perception, decision-making, visual perception
and the translation between the languages.
In general, there are four types of artificial machines, and they are reactive machines,
limited memory, the theory of mind and self-awareness.
B. How the Artificial intelligence is typically created, developed or made
AI research is conducted by the scientists and the technologists having varying
motivations and interests. The engineers and the scientists typically develop a system that can
think and act intelligently. A varied range of techniques, pattern recognition and statistics are
used to develop AI based devices (Cohen & Feigenbaum, 2014). The AI concept was

originated first in the private sector, however, the growth of the field and the size if the
research community depends on public investments.
C. Relevant facts about the Artificial intelligence
The tech giants like Google and Microsoft have developed intelligent personal
assistants. These personal assistants are capable of answering questions, can make
recommendations. They perform actions based on the requests for a set of web services.
Google Now of Google and Cortana of Microsoft has enhanced the lifestyle of the users. The
AI pets are capable of all kinds of household tasks (Wenger, 2014). The robots are capable of
repairing itself. The AI devices with the help of specific algorithms search for the pattern and
work on that pattern. The AI devices have the intelligence; they can both read and write. The
AI devices are expert in playing games like chess and pokers. The devices also encourage
artificial intelligence.
D. Artificial intelligence typical software/hardware lifecycle
The AI-based devices normally last like normal device ad these AI devices are
reusable. Since the AI devices are complex, they are sometimes difficult to repair (Hutter et
al., 2014). The software and hardware malfunctions are difficult to identify; in this case, it
becomes difficult to reuse the AI device.
E. Development costs
The AI devices cost higher than any other normal devices. The devices are expensive
because of numerous functionalities. For instance, Amazon Alexa is one of the AI devices
that can make a smart home smart (Copeland, 2015). Alexa also offers information about
latest news updates, weather updates and they are also capable of playing music as per users’
commands. It thus features heavy and does lots more than an ordinary music player. For this
reason, it is quite expensive compared to normal music players.

III. Technology’s Application, Usage & Issues
A. How Artificial intelligence typically used
Cortana, Siri and Google Now are the digital assistants, and the users can get the
latest update about news, sports and all kinds of daily lifestyle updates. The video game has
also got enhanced due to the advent of AI. The characters of the video game can learn the
users’ behaviour and can respond to the stimuli with the aid of the AI. The self-driving cars
are capable of driving, in the same way, the human's drive (Charniak et al., 2014). The
organisation with the help of AI can know the customers’ behaviours. They can predict the
customers’ shopping pattern with the help of the AI. AI also aids fraud detection.
B. Type(s) of setting where used, such as Intranet or Internet
The AI can be implemented on the organisation’s intranet platform. AI provides
virtual assistance through chatbots. The chatbots are implemented for the providers like Slack
or the Skype. The chatbots provide facilities like instant messaging.
The AI is used by the Google Now and Cortana to collect information over the
Internet. The AI is also useful to detect the security threats and fraud (Ghahramani, 2015).
The grocery retailers sell their products online over the web-ecommerce website.
C. Issues & corrective action associated with the Artificial intelligence
The AI comes with several threats and issues. The issues are related to privacy,
related to human dignity and safety. AI programs are capable of understanding the
conversations on telephones and e-mails thus can be a threat to privacy (Wenger, 2014). The
AI programs are curbing the job opportunities. They are losing jobs because of the advent of
AI (Spiro, Bruce & Brewer, 2017). The intelligent AI can overpower the humans in future.
Thus it can be a threat to safety.

D. Industry impact
The industry has been benefitted from the AI devices. The companies are getting fast
efficient service with the help of the AI. A single AI robot or AI device can perform tasks of
thousands of employees (Nilsson, 2014). The companies can hire fewer employees and in
turn can great maximum productivity.
IV. Future Consideration
The companies have started to adopt the AI in their premises to rejuvenate their existing
business operations. They are testing how and to what extent AI can provide them benefits.
The business operations will get enhanced and will become fast and effective. The companies
can face loss initially. The employees are not used to the latest technology so they will not be
able to provide quality services to the customers initially (Ghahramani, 2015). Again, the
insecure network can lead to data loss and data breaches. The company must take the risk and
should invest time and money in AI. They must make appropriate plans and must take the
security measures, they can get long-term benefits, and the can earn huge profit.
V. Conclusion(s)
It can be concluded from the above discourse that AI can provide long-term benefits to
the companies. The companies by adapting AI can embellish the business operations. They
can provide fast efficient service to the users. AI can provide them with a competitive
advantage. They can stay ahead of others with the aid of AI. However, the advent of AI and
increased use of AI can pose a threat to the human dignity. The employees can lose a job
because of this. The companies must mitigate this, and they must put prioritise humanity.
