Abstract
The aim behind developing this coursework is to have a proper investigation about the
use of artificial intelligence in medical diagnosis. The report will address the major needs of
having artificial intelligence in the healthcare industry. However it is observed that there is a
confusion regarding which section needs the implementation of artificial intelligence. The report
will focus on describing the area of medical diagnosis in which the artificial intelligence us being
used. The paper will describe the major benefits achieved with the use of artificial intelligence.
Apart from this the paper will also include the major contribution that is being provided by the
use of artificial intelligence in the fields of medical diagnosis. The main area in which the
artificial intelligence is being used includes the MRI section, in cancer detection and in the
prognosis of asthma. With the use of artificial intelligence it will become easy to provide an
efficient way of managing the medical health of peoples.
Introduction
Artificial intelligence is referred to the process that helps machines to behave like a
human. This is basically said to be as the simulation for human intelligence process. The process
includes learning, self correction and reasoning. Artificial intelligence has found great
importance in philosophy, biology, computer science, neuron science and sociology. However it
is observed that with the growing technology artificial intelligence is being developed within
different sections. Artificial intelligence is also included in expert system, within the machine
vision and also within the speech recognition technology. The aim of implementing artificial
intelligence is to generate a technology that will allow every machine to act in an intelligent

manner. Apart from all this the concept of artificial intelligence is also used for performing
medical diagnosis. The reason behind implementing artificial intelligence within the medical
diagnosis is that it offers a better accuracy towards the diagnosis, provides better recovery speed
and the treatment can be performed with great accuracy. In this report the main focus will be on
the cancer treatment that is done with the use of artificial intelligence. The second most
important application of artificial intelligence in medical diagnosis is in the field of MRI and the
third important application is in the fields of pathology. The report will focus on the importance
of artificial intelligence in medical diagnosis. The main reason behind implementing artificial
intelligence in medical diagnosis is to overcome the limitations that are faced with conventional
computer aided diagnosis. Artificial intelligence has been developed for fulfilling the needs so
that the situations can be controlled effectively and the health of every patient can be improved.
Section for artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence has been used in several parts of medical diagnosis. This includes
diagnosis of diseases like Alzheimer, Diabetes, breast cancer, colon cancer and many more.
Artificial intelligence helps in diagnosing the diseases and ensures that proper image is being
generated for the discovered disease. Early diagnosis will help in minimizing the complications
by providing a better treatment protocol towards the patients. With the use of artificial
intelligence it becomes easy to have an effective treatment for the patients. Artificial intelligence
are mainly used for the purpose of providing better assistance towards the healthcare givers and
are also adopted for ensuring better operation within the system. The major benefits that are
achieved with the use of artificial intelligence within the medical diagnosis is that it offers fats
and accurate diagnostic results, reduces the chances of human errors and reduces the cost. This

Use of Artificial intelligence for cancer detection
Biomarkers are being used for determining the cancer cells within a human body. Over
the years it is observed that cancer is a disease that has no particular cure and with time it
becomes difficult to control it. During cancer a group of normal cells within the body gets
developed and grows in a way those results into a tumor. This is applicable for every type of
cancers except leukemia. With the growing population it is observed that the breast cancer has
increased widely. The majority of people affected by breast cancer are women. Growth of
numerous cell turns ought to be in the form of a tumor. This tumor keeps on growing and affects
the health of the individual. Thus it becomes essential to detect cancer at early stages so that
proper treatment can be provided towards the affected individual. Artificial intelligence has
become one of the crucial techniques that helps in diagnosing the disease and enhances the way
of living for humans (Digital Science, 2019). AI based system has developed a reliable way of
interpreting the mammogram data so that they can produce an effective patient’s charts which
will help in predicting the risks related to breast cancer. In addition to this for determining the
breast cancer impacts a wearable device is being developed that helps in scanning the activity
taking place within the body part. This ensures that breast cancer gets detected in early stages.
The major reason of increasing mortality rate for the cancer is that the system fails to
detect the symptoms of cancer cells at early stages. However with recent researches it is
confirmed that artificial intelligence has the ability to detect the cancer and other diseases at
early stages so that it becomes easier to provide treatment towards the patients. It is being

observed that artificial intelligence will provide 95% of accuracy towards the diagnosis of
cancer. In addition to this it is observed that the cancer care is getting advanced with the AI’s
ability of collecting and processing the data. This nature helps in processing the information
within less time.
Apart from this artificial neural network is among the best artificial intelligence
techniques that help in generating images regarding the cells. This is used for differentiating
between cancerous and noncancerous image. This is important to have a proper control and
knowledge about the features provided with artificial intelligence so that it becomes easy for
medical sector to provide better health towards the people.
Artificial intelligence for MRI
With the merging technology it is observed that the use of artificial intelligence has
helped in providing an enhanced version of MRI scans. Magnetic resonance imaging helps
doctors in having a better view of a patient’s body from inside. MRI scanner uses strong magnet
and radio waves for the purpose of generating signals from tissues present within the body.
However it is important to have a better control over the MRI system so that thye can help in
producing better graphical units. Artificial neural networks are used for the purpose of
performing MRI that helps in developing an automated reconstruction process. These process
was being named as AUTOMAP. This was used for the purpose of reconstructing the data with
the use of clinical and real world MRI Machine. According to several researchers AUTOMAP
has the ability to generate better images with less noise as compared to conventional MRI. In
addition to this AUTOMAO was able to perform effectively on statistical measure of error and
this method is known as root mean squared error. Apart from all this advantages it was observed
that AUTOMAP offers a faster way of managing the results as compared to conventional MRI

experts. It is expected that the AUTOMAP technology can provide a better way of generating the
mages in both medical and non medical fields. According to a researcher AUTOMAP is
implemented for providing a better feed forward neural network. The image created is
instantaneous and has the ability to scan the images effectively. AUTOMAP will provide a better
and instant image reconstruction that will help in decision making process and has the ability to
generate reports instantaneously.
Artificial Intelligence for improve Electronic Health records
An electronic health record system is used for providing better facility towards the
patients. Electronic health record is used for the purpose of providing detailed information
regarding each patient. Artificial intelligence is being used for making the existing EHR system
more flexible and intelligent so that it can deliver a better result. The expectation from
integrating artificial intelligence within electronic health record includes data extraction from
free text. This provider has the ability to extract the data from EHR. In addition to this they also
offer a better way of diagnosing the health. Artificial intelligence are mainly implemented within
the EEHR system for improving the data discovery and extraction. The main reason behind
implementing artificial intelligence is that it becomes critical to handle to data stored within the
records. Thus it becomes necessary to customize the EHR so that it can provide a better way of
managing the data. In addition to this it becomes important to integrate all the capabilities
effectively so that it can provide better value towards the integrated ones.
Artificial intelligence in Pathology
Pathology mainly aims at diagnosing the disease that is related to analyzing the body
fluids such as urine and blood. Machine learning facilitates the healthcare industry in enhancing
the efforts in pathology. With the use of artificial intelligence in pathology it becomes easy to

the technology of radiology. This helps in generation of a detailed image for the infected area.
Thus it can be stated from the above that artificial intelligence plays a crucial role in medical
diagnosis.

Thus from the above the discussion it can be stated that with the implementation of
artificial intelligence it will become easy to provide an effective solution towards the patients. It
is important to have a better and effective diagnosis of the diseases so that it becomes easy to
handle the situations. Artificial intelligence is a technology that was developed early in 1956.
However it has made significant changes over the years and has found huge importance in
different fields. Artificial intelligence is used in different fields including healthcare, education,
