INTRODUCTION
AI (artificial intelligence) is the technology introduced by John McCarthy who is a
science and engineer of developing intelligence machines think (Barr and Feigenbaum,
2014). It is an area of computer science which emphasizes the creation of intelligent
machines that work as well as react like humans. There are some activities computers with AI
are designed for include planning, learning, problem solving, speech recognition and so on.
There are several areas in which artificial intelligence is working such as biology, computer
science, psychology, linguistics, mathematics and so on. This report is going to discuss topic
“ Is artificial intelligence is a threat or aid for humanity.” Along with this, reason behind
threat or aid of Artificial intelligence for humanity will be discussed.
MAIN BODY
AI (artificial intelligence) is the simulation of human intelligence procedure through
machines, especially computer system. These procedures involve learning, reasoning as well
as self-correction (AI (artificial intelligence), 2019). Moreover, particular application of
Artifical Intelligence involves speech recognition, expert systems and machine vision. Apart
from this, AI has been categorised within two either weak or strong. Where, Weak AI is also
named as narrow Artificial Intelligence, this system is that designed as well as trained for a
specific task. For example, virtual personal assistants like Apple's Siri, are a form of weak AI
(Artificial Intelligence). On the other hand, Strong Artificial Intelligence is also known as
artificial general intelligence this system have generalized human cognitive ability. When
strong AI is presented with an unfamiliar task, then it is able to find a solution without human
intervention.
Reason by selecting the topic – “Is Artificial intelligence is a threat or aid for
humanity” main reason behind choosing respective topic is that AI is connected with
everything which happens in life of human being as well as crucial role within it (Bond and

Gasser, 2014). Moreover, artificial intelligence has both negative as well as positive aspect
within operations. From continuous research on this topic threat as well as importance of
Artificial Intelligence for humanity will be identified.
As per the views of Kashyap Vyas, 2018 if has been identified that Artificial
Intelligence help Humanity not harming their lives. In other words, it can be said that AI is
leading the way to change life on Earth for the better extensively. There are several benefits
of Artificial Intelligence in Humanity explanation of these are as follows: enhance
automation because in today’s world AI is the technology which can perform intensive
human labour as well as backbreaking task in easy manner without any requirement of human
intervention. This has enormously automated numerous applications or tasks within the
industries and also in various sectors. AI technologies like deep learning, machine learning
and so on adoption are increasing within the industries and in organisations for decreasing
workload of human beings. Along with this, it also results in reducing operational cost and

benefit of AI for humanity is eliminates the necessity for human being to perform tedious
task. Machines do extremely well cumbersome works which result in leaving enough time for

have to do same work again and again that will be seeing as a major breakthrough, thanks to
the applications of AI who manage all these thing in easy manner. Although, financial
institutions are taking more advantages of respective technology for making banking quicker
as well as infinitely easier for the consumers. Along with all these, Artificial Intelligence also
assists in weather forecasting as well. In the recent duration AI technologies utilise for
weather and climate forecasting also. Thus, the area related “Climate Informatics” is
continuously blooming because this inspires a profitable cooperation within data and climate
scientists. Such collaboration comes out with tool for observing as well as analysing of
complex climate data. This has assisted extensively in filling the gap within understanding
and data (Gasser and Huhns, 2014)
Apart from all these one of the most importances of Artificial intelligence for humanities is
next generation disaster response. For instance, California saw major destruction in the year
2017 onslaught of wildfires. More than 1 million acres worth of land was reported burned in
wildfires that claimed the lives of 85 people with 249 people listed as missing. In such

situations artificial intelligence do their work in effective manner by identifying current
climate conditions and what will be the situation in future.
Along with this, Artificial intelligence works fast with no errors or mistakes. As many times
it is considered as artificially formed and also more or less a robot, machines etc. so, it have
the capability of perform that what have been instructed by the individual. Best thing of AI is
that it works more faster than human beings. There will be less chances of error is the work
of AI compare to human beings result through this gain in perfect way. Although, work
perform by the technology is as per guidance or instruction given by human beings. There is
no requirement of rest while work is performed through artificial intelligence and result in
maximum productivity whereas, individual need rest after hour of continuous work. If any
programmes are not properly created or developed then the chances of errors get maximised.
Artificial intelligence is mainly use in the medical sector because it provides
feedbacks to the investors use within the same area. Because such technology provide
feedbacks related to the side effect of different medicines on human beings and animals.
Along with this, assists doctors in minimising long procedures and help as a guiders in any
procedures. It get better the treatments efficiency as well as prevent costs with the assistance
of reducing false risk diagnosis (Lu and et.al., 2018). In other words, it can be said that
artificial intelligence don’t replace doctors but their application help them in facilitating
proper information that is needed for treatment of patients such as blood pressure, smoking
history, cancer, coronary blockage, aortic aneurism history and many others. But if in case it
will not program properly due to some technical errors then it may result in dangerous for the
life of patient. Such cases result in negative impact on the profession of doctor as well in the
area of medical.
As per the views of Amit Tyagi, it has been identified that drawback of Artificial
intelligence's is outweighed through its positive impact, which shows that it is advantageous
for human being in order to conduct work as well as for decision making in appropriate and
effective manner. But there are some negative impacts of the same which will affect life of
human beings badly in several aspects such as employability, status, economic and so on.
Along with this, AI (artificial intelligence) aids an association in doing their production

cost of production but artificial intelligence give negative effect on employment, main reason

workers.
Businesses are implementing various latest technologies in making their work more
easy, which directly effecting on its efficiency as well as effectiveness of work. Artificial
Intelligence maintaining a standard that regulates all works within a single portal. Artificial
intelligence which directly connected to machine's way of working or natural intelligence
which looks similar to humans and animals (Fetzer, 2012). Artificial intelligence is an
artificial machine that looks same as human being as well as any other animal. Respective
technology work as per command or guidance given by the holder to machine. There is less
chances of error in Artificial intelligence while completing a specific task. In simple words it
can be said that, AI work as the command given within the software. But, a survey in Oxford
says that it is biggest problem that is dependency on it. Human beings are getting more
dependent on robotic life that result in danger for future.
Implementing artificial intelligence within work place assist staff members and
employees in doing their work within effective as well as proper manner. There is
requirement of hiring skilled as well as experienced person in the organisation for operating
artificial intelligence in proper manner (Brodie and Mylopoulos, 2012). So for that, they have
to hire new staff or provide training to existing so that work can be done in better manner. All
these result in extra expenses at the work place. Machines, computers or robot which are
based on artificial intelligence do work all time 24 * 7 Which assist organisation in
conducting work anytime or at any where. Although, AI help in conducting work in proper
manner but its dependency is on human beings. Due to which when sometime machine get
fail company need to face huge disturb situation. During this company also face some hard
situation such as reduction in production, efficiency of work, profitability and so on.
Artificial intelligence is effectual in judgement making due to their logical thinking as
well as take appropriate or proper decision. This will be possible because of Robot or digital
computer that are Artificial Intelligence have no emotional side due to which take logical
judgement. Whereas, some time it will generate issues because there is always no
requirement of taking logical decision. Sometimes emotions are also required. Sometime
human being have to think emotionally in order to take right decide as per the requirement of

situation. Along with this artificial intelligence have capabilities to handle all crucial as well
as necessary information or data within effective and appropriate way (O'Leary, 2013).
CONCLUSION
After going through the above discussion it has been concluded that, in today’s world
full of technology life of human being direly influenced through artificial intelligence. AI is
utilised by mostly each and every sector like psychology, biology, mathematics, linguistics
and so on with the motive of conducting work in proper manner. Everything come with some
advantages and disadvantages, same artificial intelligence also pros make life of individual
easy but corns give negative impact on individual. Thus, it is responsibility of humanity to
take care of all these things while using it so it will only result in conducting life within
appropriate as well as effective manner. Moreover, there are several pros and corns of
artificial intelligence whereas, few pros are like by the company because it assist in
conducting their work within effective as well as efficient way, by this an individual can
work 24 * 7, by this one can right decision in every situation and many more. Along with this
there are some limitations such increase dependency of human beings and AI is expensive so
it is not possible for every organisation to adopt it and many more.
