Compare the social impact of artificial intelligence in the as fifty years with the social
impact of introduction of electronical appliances and internal combustion engine in the
fifty years between 1890 and 1940.
The advancements that have so far been realized in the field of technology can be implemented
through computers whereby certain tasks are performed better as compared to human beings.
However, some tasks are performed worse than how it can be performed by humans. In this
sense, the social impact of artificial intelligence is regarded to be smaller in 1960s to the 2000s
compared to the technical progress experienced between 1890 to 1940. The table below shows
the social impacts of artificial intelligence.

people lost their jobs as a result of the

2018). It has been found that the coming of artificial intelligence has aided in strengthening of
the society by supporting a number of small roles that have enabled collaboration, developing
network and performing simple operations in the medical field, homes and education. However,
dissimilar views have been raised in regard to AI in terms of allowing it to perform different
tasks. Even though AI helps in performing different tasks like classroom teaching, several ethical
issues have to be determined in this case like responsibility limits, data privacy of leaners and the
possibility of negative influence by AI.
