Promoting Cultural Diversity in Education and Care Services

This report discusses the significance of cultural diversity in education and care services and explores different aspects of Quality areas of National Quality Standards. It provides strategies to create trust and constructive relationships, opportunities for families to share skills and culture, and ways to encourage the expression of cultural identity. It also discusses the use of oral communication skills and play experiences to promote cross-cultural understanding. Additionally, it highlights two service policies associated with promoting cultural diversity.

INTRODUCTION
Cultural diversity is referred to the differences among individuals due to their language,
racial, tradition and ethnic background. In this report will discuss significance of cultural
diversity with support of different aspects of Quality areas of National Quality Standards.
Three questions which can be asked on enrolment
The three questions which can be asked Onkar to understand his cultural background for
the education and care service is going to include as follows.
 What do you want to become when you grow up?
 What is your favourite thing to do and what is your daily schedule?
 What is the happiest moment you have from the past?
With whom the information is going to be shared
From the answers of Onkar there is going to be better understanding of the cultural
background from which the child is coming so that the education and care service is going to teat
and raise the child accordingly. Onkar belongs from the South of India and his family does not
use plates to serve food in, and they use banana leaf's which is a very traditional way of eating.
This is a new culture which the education and care service can learn from Onkar and his family
for the other children also to learn other culture and follow what they feel is right. He teachers
which are going to take care of Onkar are going to be made sure that they are aware of the
cultural background from which the child is coming so that there is going to be hgiher
acceptance which would be present (Thompson and Filik, 2016).
3 strategies to create trust and constructive relationship
It is very important for the service of education and care to respect the other cultures so
that there is going to be higher acceptance. Education and care service will have to gain the trust
of the parents which is going to make the parents and the child comfortable and learn new
cultures from this. The relation will help them in finding new techniques and better work.

Opportunity for the family to share skills, knowledge and culture
The opportunity session for the parents from the care team are, providing a good communication
programme and making sure that every person is comfortable. It is important to get family's
culture and other knowledge so that it will get easy to handle the situations. The culture of the
family is south Indian and the way they eat using leaves is very attractive and it also saves
nature. The skills they have in making the plates are unique and can be used in developing
future. They can show there culture in get together and other meeting places. The way they say
NAMASTEY and hand gestures are expression culture of India (Namenwirth and Weber, 2016).

To make Archie comfortable we have played Bollywood songs in the parties and making sure
that Archie feel comfortable as it is important for us to make Archie normal and feel free to talk.
The hand gestures while saying NAMASTEY so that Archie does not feel alone and weird. It is
important to make him feel normal and utilizing the knowledge he is having. Talking to Archie
about his past work and all the places he used to travel in his tour guide work. Archie is
comfortable now with all the way every one is trying to make him comfortable and exchanging
of culture belief, it is enhancing good relation and developing a good relation between Archie
and people. It is also helping Archie in understanding the Australian culture and norms.
How to encourage Natalie to continue expressing her cultural identity
Natalie was a teacher in India, and she was working women which gave her a lot of confidence
in life and the skills and knowledge she is having is very useful. Natalie expressed the culture by
providing food at workplace and providing stuff she used to do in India. We asked Natalie to
bring things which she used to make and like in India so that they get to know about the culture
of Natalie. Natalie shares that she knows yoga and meditation which she shared when they meet
in unofficial parties.
Use of oral communication skills to role model open, inclusive, ethical interactions
Oral communication help in understanding a person to the best of the knowledge, as it is easy to
express oral and communicate. For the company it is best if the client and people communicate
orally. Understanding the points of the person is important when providing services and when

they express in oral communication it becomes easy to understand and talk and also cross
question if not able to get the situation (Quinn,2016).
Oral communication can enhance iteration within the service as it will solve all the issues people
are facing and should be resolved. To get the best of the services' communication is necessary
and the organization need to create new ways to communication in more joyful ways which can
help in improving relation and communication.
Two play experience to promote Archie's cross cultural understanding
The two play experiences are the Cricket and Theatre: -
Cricket: - Both the Indian and Australian people love cricket and both share a good relation in
cricket. People love to play cricket in India and Australia which gives a great understanding of
culture as it promote good spirit of game and culture relation.
Similarities are that everyone loves to play cricket in both the places and it is a great thing to see
and identify. Differences are that Indian are emotional to the game and are connected to it, on
other hand Australian think practically and does not take things in serious ways.
Theatre: - Both the country love theatre and in India they have Bollywood which is worldwide
famous, in Australia people love to see drama theatre (Welch, 2016)..
Similarities are that both love cinematography and enjoy things. Diffrences are that in India
they prefer Bollywood drama and in Australia they love to see Serious theatre acting.
Determine two service policies associated with promoting cultural diversity
According to Quality Area 6 of the National Quality Standard there are two standard i.e.
supportive relationships with families and engagement with the service which supports to
promote cultural diversity. Two policies are mentioned below:
 Engagement with service
To promote cultural diversity it is important for the people to engage with local culture and
understands other people view, thinking that will create comfortable zone between then they can
communicate with people more effectively (Raimo, Zito and Caragnano, 2019). There is an
example to understand role of this policy such as Onker's family gets opportunity to establish an
Indian restaurant in Australian market. In this state it is essential for the Onker's family to
understand local culture of Australian people and involves them in their services like involves

some Australian food in their menu, hiring Australian people as employee then they will support
Onker's family to understand needs of Australian customers. In addition, Onker's family can give
brief information to the Australian customer's about Indian food and it's speciality that will also
encourage local customers to have enjoyed of Indian food as well. Thus type engagement of
local culture on existing services promotes cultural diversity.
 Supportive relationship with families
It is another aspect of National Quality Standards that also promotes cultural diversity and brings
cultural competences in individuals. When individuals gives high involvement in other cultures
and interacts different personality people that enhance their understanding level through which
they can build good relations with different cultural people (Quality Area 6 – Collaborative
partnerships with families and communities, 2020). But it can possible when individuals have
nature of supportive nature then they can build family relation with diversified workforce. For
example, Onker's family priorly require understanding values of Australian culture and people's
thinking about other culture. Such knowledge can be gathered by recruiting Australian people as
service employees wherein Onker's family can give them values by understanding their needs
and provides supportive working environment. Such kind working environment helps Onker's
family to build personal and professional relations with the staff through which it can
successfully establish their business. For example when Onker's family enable to establish family
relation with employees then they will try to put more efforts to lead level of satisfaction in
customers that automatically leads profits for the Onker's business. As same concept implement
for the Australian customers i.e. Onker's family communicate with Australian customers and
asks them about their services which offers by their staff and offers high quality food with
immediate services as well as resolves their complaints within time that will make them feel
good to the different cultural people. Thus, Onker's family can build cultural competences that
will automagically promote cultural diversity.
CONCLUSION
In this report has been summarized two play experience that promotes Archies cross
cultural understanding. It has been concluded quality area 6 of the national quality standards i.e.
engagement with services, support relationship with families etc. that used to promote cultural
diversity in this report.
