INTRDUCTION
Skills are referred to the expertise or talent that requires in order to gain higher education,
job or task. A effective academic skills allows individuals to do study in higher education while
life skills supports them through everyday tasks. work or hobby. In this report will discuss about
significance skills that are required to become good HE learners.
TASK
Definition of higher education skills and their significance to HE learners that link to
performance and success factors
Academic skills are properly made up of core skills i.e. academic writing, referencing and
presentation skills which supports to learn more complex skills i.e. critical thinking and
reflective practice. To become effective higher education learners requires certain specific skills
i.e. ability to communicate with empathy, decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork and
relationship building skills, study skills etc. that enhance individual’s confidence, self-esteem
and competences (El Soufi and See, 2019). These skills also support to adapt hostile environment
and improves wellbeing of individuals. There is an example to understand role of skills such as
when academic students have good study skills then they can easily handle study pressure in
Higher Education and improve their ability to learn and retail knowledge. A effective study skills
may feel individuals that their work and efforts are more worthwhile (Henderson and et.al.,
2019). As same concept with communication skills, when individuals have ability to
communicate with empathy then they can easily make friends and resolves their doubts which
they often come while studying. Most of the time it happens when academic students or
individuals do not have good communication skills then they often face issues in higher
education because they unable to communicate with their batchmates and teachers effectively
which reduces their wellbeing and makes them weaker in higher education. According to author,
communication is process of exchanging or transferring information from one person to other.
With this skills individual can become good speaker, negotiator, manager etc. because it is one of
the major skills that is highly required to have in all professionals. Problem-solving and decision-
making skills are another essential skills that needs to have in HE learners for example when
