The roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders
Stakeholders in construction project have the legal rights to make decisions concerning the
control of budget and scheduling the task to be carried out in building construction. Under
OHSA, employees and workers share responsibility when it comes to occupational health and
safety.
Employers are responsible in ensuring safety and a healthy workplace and ensure that:
They keep a well maintained and safe workplace.
Provide training and safety equipment
Provide information on available hazards
Supervisor’s responsibility is to ensure;
A safe working environment

Workers have the right to;
Participate in making a safe workplace
Be aware of the hazardous material

The OH&S Act/Regulations current to the states that the building company operates in

Safe work Australia advocates for the development of policies regarding health and safety and
compensation arrangement of workers in Australia. WHS requirements must be met by every
business located in a specific state according to their set acts and regulations. For our case, the
building company is located in Queensland. According to Queensland legislation, WHS laws
require the employer and other workers to consult and cooperate in ensuring that the workplace
risks are managed. WHS Act places a primary duty on the health and safety on persons
undertaking PCBU or conducting a business. Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is
mandated to monitor the health and safety issues of businesses located in Queensland. Those
who do not abide by these rules and regulations risk being fined or terminated. The safety
regulations describe the measures to be taken to manage certain hazards in case of illness, injury
and death.
General and High Risk Task information
High risk activities such as working on high heights and using scaffolding in construction of high
rise buildings are always potential areas to ensure safety outcomes are well planned in a more
strategic manner. Risk associated to this activities should have proper methods to help manage
those risks.

Emergency Evacuation and Response Plan
An Emergency Action Plan are well documented by OSHA standards to help organize and
facilitate employee and employer actions in case of emergency occurrence. Procedures to be
carried out during emergency evacuation involve securing any process or activity that may
become dangerous or suffer any form of damage if it is left unattended. Act according with
directions from the emergency control personnel and ensure you evacuate the building premises
immediately.
Internal and External OH&S Consultation
OHS consultation is the process where employers communicate with their employees concerning
health and safety measures in construction workplace by giving them an opportunity to express
their view. Internal consultation can occur within the employers, supervisors and workers in
finding solutions for construction safety measures while external consultation can be obtained
from other stakeholders in the construction industry and other agencies interested in safety of the
built environment.
