Concept of personal and professional development
Personal and professional development can be defined as a kind of process though which
an individual can engage in a process of learning so that they can meet or achieve their desired
goals and overcome challenges faced by them. It also helps in fulfilling learning and
development needs of an individual. It helps an individual in learning and developing important
skills such as time management, leadership skills, stress management, multi- tasking and many
more. It is important for an individual to focus upon making a personal and professional
development plan so that they achieve their target, goals and enhance their professional career.
Value of short- term goals
Short term goals are extremely important for an individual to be developed because it
helps an individual in aligning their resources and develop a path of success. It helps an
individual in minimizing procrastination. It further helps a person on focusing upon one thing at
a time and enhance their productivity so that they can achieve their long- term goals quickly and
easily. Three personal examples of short- term goals are as follows:
Bring improvement with academic grades.
Progress in project and complete it within defined time period
Finding an internship for training
Value of medium- term goals
Medium term goals are also important for an individual as these goals helps an individual
in making significant progress within their careers. These goals can take from two months to
three years. These goals are set and achieved in such a manner that values and priorities of an
individual are not impacted and remains same. Three personal examples of medium- term goals
are as follows:
Achieve 70 percent or above in final term examination.
Figure out career track that I would like to pursue after graduation
Work on a live project in a reputed organization in order to gain professional working
experience that would help me in developing professional career after graduation
Value of long- term goals
Long term goals are extremely important for an individual to develop as it helps them in
getting a clarity of things they want to achieve in future. It is important or an individual t develop

long term goals in order to develop or build a successful career. It requires both time and
planning as it is away though which people can plan their career. It normally takes 12 months or
more to fulfil or accomplish long term goals. Three personal examples of long- term goals are as
follows:
Want to complete graduation with honours and secure a job within three years of completing
graduation.
Publish an academic paper on programming before graduation completion
To become a full stack developer and master both back-end and front-end development in
next three years
Value of a Personal Development Plan
Personal development plan can be defined as a self-reflection account that helps an
individual to identify their weaknesses and bring improvement within oneself. It is kind of
detailed action plan that helps an induvial in achievement of their academic, personal and career
goals. This personal development plan is mostly developed by an individual within their
workplace or working environment. It mostly helps an individual in identifying their strengths
and weaknesses and identify ways in which they can bring improvement within themselves. But
most importantly it helps an individual to identify difference between career chosen by you and
career which is for you. It further helps an individual in taking responsibility of their own
learning and development. Example of a Personal Development Plan as per my short, medium-
and long- term goals are as follows:

source has the content which is important for reader or not. Whereas reliability helps the readers
in understand whether the research consist of a credible evidence that can help readers in
