INTRODUCTION
communicable disease is one that is spread from one person to another through a variety of ways
that include: contact with blood and bodily fluids; breathing in an airborne virus; or by being
bitten by an insect. This file highlights the demographic characteristic of specific child care
facility and the surrounding community. After that the report highlights the Etiology and
Epidemiology of Overweight and Obesity and the justification of different stakeholder which has
been selected in the targeted group. After that the report highlights the discrimination of the
intervention and the communication strategy in the end the report highlights the Evaluation
framework technique which has been outline for the new intervention.
MAIN BODY
1.Demographic characteristic of specific child care facility and surrounding community
Overweight and obesity refers to excessive fat accumulation that presents health risks.
It generally arises from a sustained energy imbalance when energy intake through eating and
drinking
is more than energy expended through physical activity
The demographic characteristic is one of the best way through which the characteristic of the
customer can be better understand. Demographic profile includes many categories such as Age,
Gender, Income, Education, Martial Status, Employment, Home ownership, Geographical
Location, Race or Ethnicity (Craig and Jenkins, 2016).
Age: In Australia the age group of 4 – 17 years children used to see the obesity is a very
concerning condition as once gained it is favourably hard to liberate from it. This has decreased
the psychological well being of the children in the Australia almost about 20 percent of the
student are overweight in this category.
Gender: boys are having the higher change of having the problem of overweight and obesity as
compare to the girls. 71 percent of boys were having the problem of overweighting and obese as
compare to the 56 percent of the girls. 42 percent of boys was having the problem of
overweighting as compare to 29 percent of the girls. Similarly the result was close in as 28
percent of boys was obese as compare to 27 percent girls (Brennan, 2016).
Income: Income of the consumer also used to play a very crucial role in treatment of Overweight
and obesity in the Australia as it requires a good amount of the finance to treat the overweighting

and obese in Australia. It can be better understand with the data that overweighting and obese
alone has the cost of 8.6 billion in 2011-12.
Geographical Location: Their are many groups who are more likely to be overweight as
compare to the other as Compared with non-Indigenous Australians,
Indigenous adults are more likely to be overweight
or obese. Those who live
outside of Major cities, or who are in the lower
socio-economic groups are more likely to be
overweight or obese than others.
Their are 250 members and approximately 360,000 family and 2500 member throughout
Australia which offers the services of child care facility throughout Australia. Australia Early
Childhood Education and Care(ECEC) sector, the Australian Childcare Alliance (ACA) are the
authority they all represents.
When looking at the Overweighting and obesity child care facility in the Australia it has been
find that there are many centre who used to make the living fun for the children who is suffering
with Overweighting and obesity (Gribble and et.al., 2016). They used to involve the children in
the physical activity and provide the food which is healthy but also at the time is tasty. This
centre used to charge some sort of the fees from the parents side in return of the same.
Community has also played a crucial role in increasing the obesity as there is a huge amount of
the change in the way we live the life these has increased the level of obesity and overweight in
children, all of which has contributed in increasing overweight and obesity. For example:
The cost of the food is very low as compare to the past in Australia.
Increase in number of Restaurants in the Australia.
Energy-dense foods and drinks are more readily available and also the marketing of the
same product has been increased.
Use of car has increased
The role of physical education in the school curriculum has reduced.
2. Etiology and Epidemiology of Overweight and Obesity
Etiology of Overweight and Obesity
Document Page
Genetics: It is the biggest cause of Overweight and Obesity as almost 80 percent of the children
used to gain obesity if their one or both the parents are obese. The biggest reason for it is that
genetics used to affect the hormones which are involved in the fat. For example the leptin
deficiency is the biggest genetic cause of Overweight and Obesity as leptin is the hormones
which used to produced the fat cell and used to control weight of body by sending the message to
the mind to less eat.
Eating: It is the another cause of Overweight and Obesity in the children in now a days as
overeating leads to the weight gain for the children and especially the food consume is high in
sugar and fat. Overeating is just not the only cause of Overweight and Obesity frequency of
eating also used to play a very crucial role in Overweight and Obesity as the person who used to
eat the food in 4 to 5 small meal have normal weight as compare to the person who used to eat
the food in just 1 to 2 large meal (Sainsbury and et.al., 2018). The biggest reason for it is that
cholesterol level and blood sugar level are more stable in the people when they eat the food in
small meal as compare to the children who used to eat the food in large meal. Another reason
why eating causes the Overweight and Obesity is because the carbohydrates used to play a
crucial role in increasing the weight of the person and eating is the best road map through which
the carbohydrate is consumed by the person. Carbohydrates increase blood glucose levels, which
in turn stimulate insulin release by the pancreas, and insulin promotes the growth of fat tissue
and can cause weight gain
Disease: It is the another cause of child care facility and surrounding Overweight and
Obesity as many diseases like Hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, Polycystic ovary syndrome
and Cushing syndrome are the few diseases which causes the Overweight and Obesity to the
children but this factor is out of the control of the children.
Epidemiology of Overweight and Obesity in targeted group
Medication: A variety of weight loss drugs which has been approved by the Therapeutic Goods
Administration (TGA) for the treatment of obesity in Australia which is the best way through
which obesity and overweight can be reduced some of the following are as follow:
Orlistat: Orlistat used to decrease the amount of the dietary fat absorbed in your
intestines. Orlistat used to inhibits the function of the Lipase in the digestive system as Lipase is
the enzyme which is found in the digestive system of the consumer which used to break down
the fat into smaller component so it can be used to store energy.
Document Page
Phentermine: It is the one of the most common drug to reduce the weight as it is one of
the drug which is less risky and has no side effect. It is the medicine which is used for the sort
time of period as alongside a reduced calorie diet and exercise.
Liraglutide: It is the another type of medicine which is used to reduce the weight as this
medicine used to increase insulin release from the pancreas and decreases excessive glucagon
release which helps the consumer in reducing the Overweight and obesity.
Exercise: It is the another way through which the weight in the targeted group can be reduces as
exercise is it is the key component of any long term weight management, particularly weight loss
surgery. Exercise help the consumer in lowering down the blood pressure and also helps the
consumer in burning the calories in the body which used to play a very crucial role in reducing
the Overweight and obesity in the consumer.
Dietary Modification: It is the another way through which the weight can be reduced by the
consumer. In this the targeted group has to make a specific plan and has to follow the same
which should include consumption of the food in three to four small interval and also consuming
the food which is having low level of fat and Carbohydrates which will eventually help in
reducing the weight as explained above this is the common cause of Overweight and obesity in
the targeted group.
Targeted group also can take help of Behaviour Modification to reduce the weight as it is also
very use full technique.
3. Justification of Stakeholder group selection
Children: They are the best stakeholder as children are the best one stakeholder in which it will
be easy to study the disease and also they are the one who can help in understanding the rehab of
the disease also very easily as children used to rehab very fast as compare to adult.
Family: It is the another stakeholder which has been taken as they are the one who used to
support the children and supervise the children at every stage of the treatment. Family can help
us in collecting the different data related to the symptoms and the changing behaviour of the
children very easily (Hardy And et.al., 2017).
4. Description of Intervention
This includes making a plan and setting goals for the patient. Interventions are the actual
treatments and actions that are performed to help the patient to reach the goals that are set for
them. Intervention for the Overweight and Obesity are as follows:

STAGES DEFINITION TECHNIQUES
Pre Contemplation It is the stage where individual
are not ready to change the
way they are living currently
and there is no intension of
change are notices.
At this stage Nurses have to make sure that
they communicate so effectively with the
targeted patient that they create the
bonding with the patient and the patient
feels free to explain the problem which is
faced by them. Nurse has to make sure
that the patient is communicated so
effectively about the need of the change
and the patient should feel encouraged
enough to evaluate the behaviour and think
about the change which is prescribed .
Nurses also has to verify the reason of
overweight and obesity in the patient and
should explain them the same so that they
are having the knowledge about what is
the reason of getting admit in the hospital.
Contemplation Targeted group will be
hesitant to adopt the change.
At this stage the nurse should educate the
targeted group about the advantages and
disadvantages which will be enjoyed by
them after implication of change. Nurses
has to make sure that they highlights the
importance of weight loose to the patient
as compare to the disadvantage which will
help them. Nurses also has to make sure
that the ways which are taught to the
patient should be explain in such a way
that it seems very easy easy for them to
adopt. In simple word nurse has to make
sure that they make patient mentally ready

also to adopt the change for their
betterment.
Preparation It is the stage where mind of
the individual is ready to adopt
the change
Nurses has to make sure that they used to
regular encourage the targeted group. Also
has to support the patient in taking the
small step toward the change. In starting
Patient will not be that comfortable with
the change as when patient will be given
healthy it may not be liked by the patient
or at the time of the exercise patient may
feel irritate at that time nurse has to
encouraged and motivate the targeted
group that these is the part of the success it
will help them in getting the benefit in
future. Also the nurses has to make sure
that they does not implement the strict
rules at the starting point itself they should
give the room of the independence to the
patient. Nurses also has to make sure that
the patient is regularly consuming the
tablet as in this stage sometime patient
become irritated about the steps which
they are taking.
Action Individual are making change
and working strongly toward
the change
Nurses have to support the targeted group
and need to appreciate them for the efforts
which patient are showing toward
achieving the change. Nurses has to make
sure that the patient is following the
correct step for achieving the change. In
this stage also there are some situation
Document Page
where targeted group feel frustrated of
failure but the nurse has to make sure that
they explain the same failure in the
positive manner to the patient. Nurses also
has to make sure that they used to check
the medicine of the targeted group and on
the basis of the growth which is shown by
the patient they consult the prescription of
the Patient by the way of measuring the
report of the patient on the regular basis
and comparing the same to find out the
growth.
Maintenance Individual maintain the
acquired change through
active ongoing work.
Individual are confidence
enough to continue with the
change.
At these stage the nurse has to make sure
that they assess the situation of the
targeted group on the regular basis and on
the basis of that they suggest the change
which they should bring in the process of
adopting the change it will help them in
adopting the change more effectively as
compare to the past.
5 Outline of Communication Strategies
communication is the exchange of information between two party with the purpose of sending
them a message. This will help in passing on the right message toward the targeted group.
Communication strategy which will be used as follow:
Verbal communication is the best way through which message can be passed on to the targeted
group as this is the best strategy which creates a bond between the two party and which is
important aspect in passing on the important message to anyone. Verbal communication is of
two type written and oral. student will be using written communication by the way of attractive
poster to catch the eye of the group toward Overweight and obesity (Leroux and et.al., 2018).
Poster will be containing the cause of Overweight and obesity and also the way through which

Overweight and obesity can be reduced by the targeted group. Student also can take help of
Email to send the mail to the targeted group to make them aware about the symptoms of
Overweight and obesity and the precautionary ways through which it can be reduced by them.
Oral communication is the another type of communication strategy which can be used by student
in passing on the intervention to the targeted family and explaining thoroughly the cause of
obesity and overweight which can create the effective affect on the targeted family group as oral
communication will help the student in linking the emotion with the targeted family which is to
necessary in passing on the message regarding the disease. Student also can take help of call to
pass on the information about the same and also about the new intervention which will help them
in improving the efficiency of task as meeting every family face to face will consume a grater
time (Giger, 2016).
6. Outline of Evaluation Framework
Document Page
Evaluation framework for the overweight and obesity will be followed in the three stage
program. In which first stage will be of Program activity in which their will be the programming
activity on the basis of which the different activity will be followed in the process. Programming
activity will include two sub stage in which first stage will include the stage where intervention
will be made to improve the current situation of the business ans also different action plan will
be made to be implemented. In the second stage of the Programming stage the information
regarding the targeted group need to be collected and the cause of the disease need to be find out.
After that need to evaluate the intervention and action plan by looking at the risk associated with
the same by keeping in mind the targeted group (Arnold and Boggs, 2019).
The second stage is the stage where the intervention and the action plan will be implemented on
the targeted group of the patient. It is the stage where healthy environment will be created for the
patient and new policy will be implemented in such a way that patient feel encourages to adopt
the change in their life style. This stage will help the individual in improving the strength of the
individual who is suffering with overweighting and Obese.
Document Page
It is the last stage in which the outcome of the individual will be noted and will be compared
with the objective which was set up in the first stage. On the basis of that deviation will be find
out and different sort of action will be taken to reduce the deviation it will help the targeted
group in reducing the health inequality and the will also help them in reducing the prevalence of
overweight and obestly and will improve quality of the life (McCaffery and et.al., 2016).
CONCLUSION
After going through the above report it has been summarized that there is increasing number of
the overweight and obesity disease in the Australia specially in the children which has created
the situation of the uncertainty. The big reason or cause of this disease is genetic and the eating
habit of the children. After that it has been summarized that the motivation, encouraging and
measuring are the best nursing intervention and verbal communication is the best communication
strategy. In the end the report explain the Evaluation Framework.
