INTRODUCTION
Organisation theory and practices is process which refers to most of organisation utilised
various approaches in order to managing and handling business activity and operations. It
includes leaders and managers utilised various management style in order to improving
performance of organisation. Superior of organisation providing healthy working environment in
order to effectively performing business function and activities (Amankwah-Amoah, 2016). The
report is about the Sainsbury's which are situated in UK in order to serves the wide range of
product and services. The paper consist is CEO of Sainsbury's effectively utilised various
management style, function and principles in retail sector. In addition to this, organisation
structure, leadership style and various motivational theory which are used by organisation.
Situation in Sainsbury's: It includes organisation facing ample numbers of situations in
order to organisation facing so many issues regarding culture and collaboration between the
employees. During COVID-19 in pandemic situation refers to impact on organisation
profitability and productivity of company. It considered as organisation CEO Simon Roberts
used various leadership in order to dealing the tuff situation as well as forward thinking and
focused on goal and objectives. It involves Sainbury's CEO Simon Roberts are honest, dedicated
and hard worker towards the work and effectively accomplishing activities within the specific
period of time as well as formulating new strategies in order to gaining competitive advantages.

Management style-: It includes organisation CEO focusing on various leadership style
such as authoritarian management style in order to effectively managing business function and
activity in order to achieving organisation goal and objectives. It is process which refers to
formulating new strategies in order to effectively direction and control all the business activity
and operation. It is process which refers to organisation CEO used the autocratic management
style in order to effectively follow hierarchical structure (Burnett, 2016). It is structure which
refers to each and every employees to know about the roles and responsibility in order workforce
effectively communicate with each other. In context of Sainbury's, it includes each and every

employees reporting and accountable for work and managers of organisation providing healthy
working environment in order to employees work effectively and efficiently. It is essential to
serves the best product and services for customers in order to increasing effectiveness of
organisation.
Principle of management-: Most of organisation focusing on innovative products and
services in order to delivering quality products to customers as well as creating different image
in the marketplace. In relevance of organisation, It is process which refers to developing
innovative products in order to serves the best product and services for customers and
formulating new strategies in order to achieving organisation goal and objectives. There are
ample numbers of principles of management which are effectively used by CEO in Sainsbury's
as well as Henry Fayol developing 14 principles and each principles are important for an
organisation (Camilleri, 2018). Simon Roberts majorly focusing on unity of direction which
refers to 5th principle of Fayol's out of 14 management principles. It is principle which refers to
focusing on goal and objectives. It considered as all the managers and leaders focusing on work
and business activity in order to accomplishing within specific period of time and achieving
organisation goal and objectives. It is utilising various tool and techniques during pandemic
situation so retail stores providing online facility and delivering grocery item for customers.
Functions of management-: It is process which refers to followed the four function of
management in order to utilised by CEO of organisation. In context of Sainsbury's, it includes
various principles which are discussed below.
Planning-: This is the first function of management in order to CEO of organisation
design plan in order to attained organisation goal and objectives. It includes various tool,
techniques and resources in order to properly allocated as well as delegating roles and
responsibilities of employees.
Organization-: It considered as Simon Roberts focusing on organisation operational in
order to smoothly conducting due to various skill and function are involved (Clifford, 2019). It
includes organisation focusing on internal process such as properly dividing work among the
employees.
Leading-: Managers and leaders focusing on team members in order to effectively
performing business function as well as effectively communicating all the employees. It involves
developing team spirit among the employees and enhancing skill and capabilities of employees.
