Decision Scientist Mu Sigma, India September 2014 to June 2017
Sensor Based Analytics and Internet of Things (IoT): I have worked along with the
team of product development of Mu Sigma for building customized sensor-based
products for retail clients. Also worked on the following retail use cases:
i) Prevention of Spoiling Food by Utilizing Sensors: Worked with the client’s
store operations team to develop Bluetooth low energy (BLE) based sensor
system to detect unclosed freezer panes to avoid frozen food spoilage. Further
improved its design by replacing the BLE device with a more accurate DHT11
temperature sensor and transmitting real time alerts to the operations team.
ii) Improving Customer Satisfaction Level by Utilizing IoT: Worked with the
client’s store operations team for improving the customer satisfaction level
leveraging the IoT technology. Broadly worked on the following retail
problems:
a) Queue Management by Utilizing Video Analytics: Developed a
queue management system using store CCTV cameras and Human
Motion Tracking (HMT) algorithm to assess real time queue length
and fed this information to the operations team for active queue
management. This reduced the checkout of the waiting time for
customers and improved their store experience.
b) Customer Path Tracking for Aisle Management: Developed a
hardware system to track customer path in retail store using BLE
devices and Raspberry PI to study customer dwell time and
preferences for effective aisle management.
Business Intelligence Platform Evaluation: Developed a framework to evaluate
leading Business Intelligence tools including Tableau, DOMO, Qlik Sense and Qlik
View, which has benefited multiple clients in selecting an enterprise-wide solution for
BI.
